Lucy Olsen has had an incredible couple of weeks. On Feb 3rd/4th was named B1G & National Player of the Week

This is the Lucy that many of us expected! If she can continue to build on this performance and the others step up. This could be a team you won’t want to play come March…
How we do will depend on 3 things. 1. Ball security, which seems much improved when utilizing Guyton. 2. Hitting free throws 3. Having a 3 point threat

Everything else will fall in line, we have excellent defense, good rebounder, and several players that have gone through the grind. If we can protect the ball and hit our free throws we will win a lot of games down the end. We start hitting 3's with regularity and this team can be any team as shown today.

Lucy was terrible for much of the game, but when it mattered most, she was easily the best player on the floor. She took over in the 4th quarter and made USC's #12 an afterthought. What a gutsy performance that may have finally established herself as this team's go-to player, the rock they can count on it when the going gets tough. She sure was that today.

And another shout-out to Addison O'Grady, who was a co-star of the 4th quarter. What an incredible performance against a bigger defense and the #4 team in the country riding a 15-game winning streak and undefeated in the BIG. But not anymore.

The entire team played with their hair on fire and took it to USC from the get-go. It was SO much fun.

BTW: As some of you have noted, "terrible" was a poor choice of words. Someone else said a "rough" start, and that seems more apt. I apologize for my mistake. Lucy was fantabulous.

I thought she was in a little bit of a rhythm early in the first half, but then they went away from her, and then struggled.. But credit to her, she stuck with it, and did what we saw from her at the beginning of the year. If they want to make any noise going forward, she needs to be a big part of it.

"terrible" is a stretch, unless you compare it to a great 2nd half by Lucy, and I still disagree.

How can you be “terrible for much of the game” and still score 28 on more than 50% from the floor and hand out 4 assists too?

Love the step thru move she added. I was totally faked out watching, she goes to the midrage fade so much that the step thru was totally unexpected.
And her mid-range step-back is so good, just giving that one more thing for a defender to think about could buy her just that last extra inch or two.

I disagree. She played all but 3 minutes of the game and her only "bad" quarter was the 2nd.

Her stats broken down:

Where in the hell do you find all the breakdowns/information you do ?

Much of the game is quite a stretch. She did start out with 4 points and 4 turnovers. From there she finished with 28 points and still only 4 turnovers. Huge 2nd half for sure.

Does Lucy ever frown? Winning or losing, she's the happiest player I've ever seen on the floor. And incidentally, she had a terrific game yesterday!

Yeah had some of our more intense “fans” upset about it a few games back

For a senior point guard, she was making poor judgments on passes, missing her shots . . . "terrible" compared to what we expect of her, which is what she showed when it mattered most, as I said before. To me, she was something like a star baseball player who goes 0-3 with a pair of strikeouts while leaving five men on base--kinda terrible--but then hits a game-tying double in the 8th and a game-winning homer in the 9th.

No question that Lucy deserves her BIG honors as one of the keys to the awesome upset. I hope she can be consistent in leading the Hawkeyes to more wins the rest of the way.
