Tyler showed some really good flashes defensively, but got burned by the Turkey guy 1-2 times. Put the ball on the floor too much around the rim. He’s had a solid outing.

Luka showed a lot of the positives. Only criticism is the Rockets are one of the teams fully committed to small ball. With 5 shooters, they were getting open shots with him out there. It’s hard to bet against his talent/work ethic though. He’ll find a spot.

Good thing the Pistons took Garza out after his two fouls so they could go on like a four minute scoring drought and end up down 17 before the starters got pulled. His effort and hustle (and it energizing the team on the defensive end) was arguably the biggest contributor to them cutting the deficit to six

I appear to be in the minority, but didn’t think Cook played well… or at least was really inconsistent. This summer league isn’t a great fit for his game because he needs to do more than he’s comfortable with to have success. When you can pair him with better players, he can carve out his niche and do those one or two things well in spot minutes

The Rockets beat the Pistons 111-91.

Luka was the Pistons' 2nd leading scorer with 15; Cunningham led w/ 20. Tyler Cook had 10.

Absolutely. When Luka was in, there was energy and good things were happening. Can't beat his hustle.

Cook was better tonight than the first game. The first game was rough.

Yeah all the fumbled passes in game 1 was a bad look. Only one TO tonight is a big improvement, and it was nice to see him drawing fouls/knocking down free throws (as ugly as that shot is) as well

The Detroit fans on Reddit are done with Cook. Including many who liked him last year and were sad when he was cut. He really hasn’t been playing well these two games. Look for his minutes to continue shrinking.

Unfortunate because he has proven he belongs. He’s playing worse in summer league than he did in the final few weeks of last year’s regular season.

Played well in several actual meaningful NBA games and then played poorly in two that don’t matter and the fans turned on him (I was seeing the same on Twitter). Not super confident he’ll be returning to Detroit, but it’s just a reminder that sports fans of every team are emotional and fickle. Not just us Hawk fans 🙂

Sidenote/hot take: Cade Cunningham will be a slightly above average pro. A lottery pick bust.

Luka was very impressive tonight. He's athletic enough at that weight to make it in the league.

Great stat lines for both.

In his defense the team is a mess on the starting rotation and he is playing the 5.

Garza is a culture changing guy and I hope Weaver sees this.

Luka & Cade seem to have good chemistry on and off the court. That helps, for sure.

The Pistons had a very good draft. It's not every day that a 2x First Team All American, 2x B1G Player of the Year & the reigning National Player of the Year fall into your lap with a late 2nd Round pick.

I'm sorry but this slimmed down Garza would've taken Iowa further in the tourney.
How do you envision that? I doubt he would have scored more. Do you think his D would have made a difference. Garza's weight wasn't the issue that held the team back.

Any idea on what that streaming website was last year? Trying to watch tonight.

Garza is a culture changing guy and I hope Weaver sees this.

Weaver has been an outstanding GM at identifying talent so far. And Luka played AAU with Weaver’s son, so he knows it.

Weaver went out on a limb for Jerami Grant based on past personal knowledge. And was right. He’s going to be right on Luka too.

I still think Luka gets a ton of G League minutes this year.

From what I have read from several Pistons Forums is that they want to keep Luka Garza but have to find a way to get a spot on the roster for him.
At this time it looks like he is in a better spot than JW for making a team.

Garza, truly, looks the part. I think he makes it but who knows who the casualty is. I hope not TC.

Weezy just not getting it done for the Spurs so far. Too bad :(
