Luka NBA Draft

Based on that, Joey buckets is coming back.

I tried finding Weezy in 2022 mocks and he is pretty under the radar to put it kindly. He has sort of an 'NBA Light' game in that he does a lot of things pretty well, but he is not strong enough or explosive enough at his position. He still has time to continue his development. Might need to start prioritizing some international markets to consider.

Don't think the NBA is focused too much on players FT % coming out of college

I thought this seemed realistic, early 2nd round. I do think his 3 point shooting and improved FT shooting, push him up to at least this prediction, maybe a few picks higher.

I see that list has Kofi at 302 lbs. when the official roster lists him at 285.

He's not playing in the league after next season unless he improves by leaps and bounds this coming off season, and I don't ever see it happening to be honest.
Great kid but come on....

Probably not a major factor but only mentioned as it was a glaring issue for Luka last year as he was about 65%, now he is about 75%. 3 point shooting is by far the more heavily weighted area of the two I mentioned. Because of his lack of elite athleticism, teams will be paying close attention to all of his "skill" areas even more than usual.

“massive and talented post player who scores in bunches but lacks ideal mobility for the NBA game.”

Shit he lacks ideal mobility for the college game too and still dominates. Find it hard to believe an NBA team couldn’t use Garza

The NBA is able to exploit matchups at order of magnitude greater than the college game. Garza will be put in the pick-and-roll or pulled out to the three point line pretty much every time down the floor.

Great point. I think his lack of mobility will be even more glaring vs NBA talent but I also think his effort, savviness, and skill will provide a pretty unique point of difference. He will have to continue to add more moves and anticipate shot blockers even more but...his shooting alone is a great foundation.

If he plays in the NBA Summer League and continues to dominate, a team will pick him.

I honestly didn't think Niang would make it but he's had a pretty decent career so far. Luka might get there but he's got to find the right team. Not a lot of players like him left in the league. I mean a guy like Frank Kaminisky barely plays now.

12 minutes, 4 fouls last night for the Suns. :)

Luka's freshman year, I questioned whether Garza should even be on scholarship at a Power 5 program.

Luka's sophomore year, I thought he might develop into a reliable backup and maybe even become a solid starter by his senior year.

Last year, whoa. I was dead wrong about Luka as a college player, but I still thought he'd be a second round pick and bounce between G and the NBA before going overseas after a year or two.

Now? If Luka keeps performing even better than last year, I would not be surprised to see him go late 1st round and eventually turn heads in the NBA for how.much more suited to the NBA game he may be.

The thing that is changing my.mind about Luka's ceiling is that cyst being removed and how rapidly his speed, strength, and footwork have improved. He's always had confidence and work ethic and studies the game like a pro, but now I wonder if he can't keep developing physically and athletically with the cyst gone. A cyst that size probably limited his strength and athleticism development substantially, but his youth and having a team of trainers (plus his dad) is fast-tracking him to get physically better and better at a time when a lot of guys are nearing their peaks. I may be proven wrong, but Luka keeps proving me wrong. Time for me to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I think he will adapt. He has overcome every obstacle in his path up to this point, I don't see why he can't do it at another level. That said, the NBA is a whole different ball game and the style of play is very different.

I'm a sixers fan would love Garza to back up Embiid who misses alot of games rather than offense limited Howard. Garza has a very unique offense skill set that I think some team in the Nba will like and draft him.

Tony Bradley is getting screwed. He put up good minutes with Utah & was all set to be the 76ers backup center until Howard signed with them.

That's the thing. I hardly know what skill sets are needed in the NBA but I have to think that Garza's ability to hit shots from anywhere has to give him a chance to play somewhere in the NBA.

Good, he doesn't have to run baseline to baseline.

What the hell were you watching Luka's freshman and sophomore seasons?

I get that. With that, I still think he has a lot to offer

I don't see him playing in the NBA, but also wouldn't count him out of anything. I watch the NBA, and the big guys they put on the floor are legitimately very tall and very athletic. How does that work for Garza? Teams are not going to throw the ball to him in the post every possession like Iowa did to let him wear on a team. NBA teams barely go in the post with regularity as it is outside of Embid or matchups. And the defensive side of the floor would not be great.

This is where I am. Luka is nowhere near being a lottery pick and he shouldn’t be the rebuilding focal point of a crappy team, but he’s a guy with strong post moves, a good mid-range jumper and a good 3-pt shot. Personally, I think his NBA future is somewhere between Luka Doncic at the high end and Frank Kaminsky at the low end. He can definitely contribute.

I was watching Tyler Cook, lol. I think you're forgetting how slow he was his freshman year. He had some games where he was absolutely torched on defense. He couldn't stop anyone on the block. Sophomore year, I saw improvement, but I thought that might be his ceiling. I had no idea at that time that he put in Olympic-level effort in the off-season and had the giant cyst. The guy just keeps proving everyone wrong which is why I won't be surprised at this point if he ends up a starter and is an important part of whatever team grabs him. It would be crazy to bet against him. He's relentless!
