Luke Lachey & his NFL prospects

Another reason I gave Lester an F on offense. Lachey should have had 4x the receptions/targets that he had. A mismatch against most linebackers and very rarely did we draw up a play to take advantage. Still not hopeful our garbage offense will get better.
How does IowaLaw, our resident TE evaluator, feel about Lachey's NFL potential?
Another Iowa TE that we wonder why we didn't do more with while he was here?
He had a ton of Safety over the top on Him all Year with the lack of WR threats Iowa fielded
this, 100%....w/out a WR core to beat you over the top they rolled safety help on him and the QB situation didn't help obviously either. Plus, he's coming off a broken leg too so probably only got fully healthy toward end of season. Not sure how much 12 personnel Lester runs, not an excuse because you should scheme for advantages yet will be interesting this fall to see if we do indeed run 12 with Addy/Hoffman/Ortwerth, etc or more 11, etc.
And I barely knew he was even on the team last season. How do you fail to get him the ball?
A lot of 12 when Lachey and Ostrenga were both healthy, but it was primarily for run plays.
It was egregious how little we targeted him and used him last fall.
I was waiting for “his” season and it kinda just puttered out. The QB ridiculousness didn’t help.
Slightly better college stats than Kittle (other than TDs) so the path is definitely there.
I don’t care how he does in the pros. I care how he does at Iowa and we didn’t utilize him at all this year.
If an Iowa Player balls out in the League it helps Iowa recruiting, it does matter .
I was hoping for a big senior season from Luke but it just didn't materialize for whatever reason. Hopefully not an indicator of Lester not utilizing the TE. Looks like he is finally healthy and ready for big things.
Exactly. It's not that we don't have talent, it's just that we don't know how to shine a light on it (Year 2 under Lester will hopefully reveal an actual passing attack).
That being said....Lachey can't block for shit. Definitely a pop in, pop right back out type of TE in the league. At best.
It is more important for an Iowa Hawkeye player to ball out when he's an Iowa Hawkeye. THAT is the kind of shit to show off to recruits.
Offensive players that produce very little while wearing the Iowa uniform but go on to be studs at the professional level, screams "We have coaching and/or scheme issues."
