MAC talent=MAC team. Don’t expect different results if we keep fielding a team every year that looks like it came from the J Crew company picnic.

I will say the freshman and sanforts are high end talent especially when coached up on both ends for 4 years.
Talent isn’t the issue. The coach not being willing to change is the issue. Same thing expecting different results year after year

Not seeing it with Sandfort. Might be an ok player down the road but high end? Not so much.
It's a similar situation to a lot of years with Fran.
It's not that you can't have guys like the Sandforts and be successful It's that you have to surround them with players that offset their weaknesses.
Princeton is pretty white and plays much better defense than us. Held Arizona to 55 last year in the tourney. It's not impossible, Fran's just bad at coaching it.
Athletes and guard play is the issue, Frans likes supposed shooters, Harding has some promise and Freeman but did you see Oklahoma drive at will and race up and down the court then throw in no defense if Iowa isnt hitting 3s at an ok % they look horrid.

I’m no basketball expert, but I would definitely love to see what Fran has the team working on in practice. It is a mystery why they are always so bad defensively.
When the opponents can run faster and jump higher than our team it makes defense pretty difficult. When was the last big game we played in where it was thought, “we have the better athletes on the floor”?
Well, yeah, I already agreed with OP about having too many white guys. But still, they are abnormally bad, white or not.
It’s not a mystery at all. We are extremely slow in the frontcourt at all positions. Fran has lip serviced the whole positionless basketball thing, and it works on offense. Not so much on defense. We can’t switch, we can’t fight through screens, and we suck at zone. We really seem to have no philosophy on defense. He’s the anti Kirk. We have no offensive identity in football and we have no defensive identity in basketball. Never have.
We have an offensive identity in football, it just doesn't work very well without a dominant OL.
I couldn’t even say that if we played some high school teams.
