Going to the game next weekend. First time at Camp Randall. Suggestions on parking and is there tailgating? I’ve heard mixed things about tailgating vs going to the bars by the stadium before the game. Anyone that’s been there on gameday, is there parking available that you can pay for that day like you find in Iowa City? There are parking passes available for different lots on Stub Hub but they are pretty pricey so not sure if I should pull the trigger on that or not. Thanks in advance for any tips that anyone has!

You are about to enter into the biggest cesspool of ahole fans anywhere in the country. We've been up there 8 times and it got the point where we decided its best to watch it on TV.

They may be a bit subdued this year. Two things going for you. The Badgers are not as good this year. It's an 11AM start so the drunkenness will not be as bad.

Edgewood College was pretty close and had a decent parking lot tailgate. Most of the Badger fans go to bars beforehand.

Likelihood of my car being F’d with having Hawkeye plates?

Looking at parking at Edgewood or just in a neighborhood somewhere near the bike path.

Do not, I repeat do not park anywhere near the frat houses unless you want your car vandalized. Beware of fans pouring beer on you.

Behind stadium on Breeze Terrace. If you have Hawkeye stuff on you will get chanted at on that street. Just keep moving and you’ll be fine. Been going to games there since about ‘91. Mixed bag, always aholes anywhere you go but also if you don’t look for trouble or have rabbit ears you’ll be fine

Ben a number of times. Park at any lot that is not located by the frat houses and you’ll be fine. Fans will harass you a bit but as long as you don’t take it personal it will be fine. It’s mostly all in good fun. Bar scene is actually pretty fun. Close to stadium. Have fun and let’s go hawks!! and….
Lets Go Brandon!!!

Ive been two or three times, I can't remember.

They were totally fine the first time. Sucky the last time.

Did them winning/losing have any effect on their behavior (do you think)?

Ive been to Minneapolis close to 6-7 times and the only time I’ve seen anything close to them getting out of pocket was the year they won like 51-14 (Rudock’s Jr season). Every other time I’ve gone, Iowa has won and they were a very docile fan club.

Even in the bad times at Minnesota, the worst it got was a little extra effort on the “who hates Iowa”. Nothing real bad.

Honestly, it must only have been twice because I can't remember losing there. It was 03 when the game was freezing going from rain to sleet to snow. Grant Steen made a play to win on 4th down. I don't remember anyone saying anything much at all that game. The guy we sat next to was nice and talked about the history of Jump Around.

The other game (can't remember the year) we were down a couple scores in the first half and Tony Moeaki had a touchdown to get us back in the game. After that, I don't think Wisconsin scored. The fans that day were pricks. My buddy and I bought single tickets and went to find a place to stand and watch out of the way. We went to the endzone and stood all the way at the top with a bunch of others that weren't in seats. At first they were just ribbing us because they were up, calling us names, whatever. Then once the game turned they were trying to get us kicked out and many more comments started to fly. There were some that were pretty embarassing with kids around. We did not do anything to provoke this. Mildly cheered at best knowing we were on the road, out numbered in our section, and didn't want to be "those" away fans.

For Minnesota, I totally agree. Saw some rough ones where fans were annoying then saw them shut up when we smoked them. Unfortunately, I think I am 1-3 for trips up there so I stopped going. I did get sick one morning that we were heading up and turned around to go back home. We won easily that day so I figured I broke the curse, haha.

I have been there plenty of times. I am usually able to find a place to park for a reasonable price. There are alot of house party's you will walk by. I found the hawkeye huddle is at the convention center on the 2nd floor usually. good place to have some drinks, watch the hawkeye cheerleaders prior to games and gather with hawkeye fans.

Not a lot of traditional tailgating areas like you find at other BT venues. The local Community college has a decent lot, but a bit of a walk iirc. Have also parked on the streets, in yards, parking garages. Probably never the same place twice. Have traveled for many IU and Northwestern games (wife’s school) up there, never had much trouble.

OSU fans are the worst. And the sad part is, they seem to take great pride in their obnoxiousness.

I park in one of the University lots. When I need another space I try to park on the property of the Madison Congregational [United Church of Christ] at 1609 University Avenue. It is reasonably priced considering the short walk to Camp Randall and the people are pleasant and seem to watch the cars.
Being on University is mixed bag, busy after the game but we use it to get off the side streets that gps programs want to put us on!

Been going to Madison since '81. Only crap is with students. Until our recent woes, we beat them for like 18 years in a row from late 70's to mid 90's. Hayden complained that they poured Schnapps on his wife, he pronounced it Snaps. He also referred to Westconsin which I loved. He knew how to kick their butts, unfortunately Kirk forgot. We will have throw on 1st down and throw deep or they will hand it to us.

I've never had any issue whatsoever at the bars there, but only one time out of five would I not describe the walk to the stadium as "treacherous". That was also the only time I haven't sat in the Iowa section, and I thought the fans around us were fairly tolerable. Maybe they have mellowed.

The last game day HawkeyeHuddle I recall was at Union South, very close to Camp Randall. It is attached to parking ramp.
I see that there is a Friday night HH at Whiskey Jacks but didn’t see any mention of a Saturday huddle, perhaps because of this being a Homecoming weekend or due to the early start. Union South would be good if it is available.
