I'd like to to see the yearly totals.
Does this imply we would win games by 102 points if these 5 played?
Sub out Pat for Joe and you got itThere is no doubt the best defensive team is:
Ulis
Perkins
Keegan Murray
Kris Murray
Patrick Mac.
You can play man or zone with this group...and press all night.
I love that everyone one of those guys can grab a rebound and run...and everyone can really motor.
You have to have Joe T on the top defensive team. He's arguable our best defender. There is no doubt the best defensive team is:

have difficulty with defensive match ups with that lineup. plus creating a rebounding disadvatage.Sub out Pat for Joe and you got it
Sure but we're talking about defense and it's him vs. Pat. He's definitely better than Pat on D.He was really gambling against Utah St. and has a few other times earlier in the year like he gets on the wrong side of his defender. I am not advocating he's always poor but be takes odd angles.
I think I'd take the original lineup and Ulis over Joe T. Joe, however, can still start and get dudes gassed chasing. He's so dynamically fast.
Count me as one who wouldn't be worried about matchups with our 5 best defenders on the floor.have difficulty with defensive match ups with that lineup. plus creating a rebounding disadvatage.
then we are lucky you aren’t making that decision.. two wings an off guard and two point guards. not a good combination.Count me as one who wouldn't be worried about matchups with our 5 best defenders on the floor.
Who does Pat guard that Perkins can't? Sounds like you're getting too caught up with traditional positions. This isn't 2008.then we are lucky you aren’t making that decision.. two wings an off guard and two point guards. not a good combination.
someone 6’8” will post perkins up inside. it’ not so much “traditional as it is functional and what skills players have both offensively and defensively. plus, we are not a great rebounding team to begin with….6’8”-6’7”-6’3” will magnify the problem. actually think Ulis is better defender on the ball at this point than Joe.Who does Pat guard that Perkins can't? I like having Kris come off the bench, for the offensive spark. There's no reason that your 6th man cannot have more actual minutes than a starter.
Seems like there is a new starting 5 thread each day. How about a thread for the 5 you want in there at the end of the game?
when coaches have the players to do it, quite a few substitute multiple players at a time because they provide a different emphasis, match ups, and of course fresh bodies. you have a problem with that why? probably only because it’s a way to show your bias against Fran.True, Kris coming off the bench could have more minutes than starter Rebacca---but that isn't the issue. Kris is 2nd best player on the team he should be playing north of 30 minutes per game. That isn't going to happen with Fran's substituion pattern because he is subbing an entire 2nd unit and playing his 8-9-10 guys a lot more minutes than any other coach in B1G.
No one is nor should be playing that much. The quality of play diminishes when they are playing that many minutes game after game, plus the quality of depth means it isn't needed.True, Kris coming off the bench could have more minutes than starter Rebacca---but that isn't the issue. You lost me at everyone can rebound. We can’t out rebound anyone w a pulse. That better change quick or we’re gonna get killed again once conference play resumesThere is no doubt the best defensive team is:

We out rebounded Utah state who was ranked one spot below us. I'd call that having a pulse. You lost me at everyone can rebound. We can’t out rebound anyone w a pulse. That better change quick or we’re gonna get killed again once conference play resumes
Barely. We out rebounded Utah state who was ranked one spot below us. I'd call that having a pulse.
Ok but we're only talking defense in this thread. If there's a 6'8" small forward out there in college with a post game, then hats off to him if he gets some buckets on Perkins. It's much more likely the other team has three quicker guard/wing types.someone 6’8” will post perkins up inside. it’ not so much “traditional as it is functional and what skills players have both offensively and defensively. plus, we are not a great rebounding team to begin with….6’8”-6’7”-6’3” will magnify the problem. actually think Ulis is better defender on the ball at this point than Joe.
You call 35-23 barely out rebounding? Over 50% more rebounds is barely out rebounding? LolBarely.
like I said if it doesn’t improve in conference play it’s gonna be a looonnngggg year
No the barely part was how much better I feel about the Hawks out rebounding Utah St! I wouldn’t call that a real big movement on the barometer…You call 35-23 barely out rebounding? Over 50% more rebounds is barely out rebounding? Lol

too bad you have to play both ends of the court with the same five players, what kind of a post game do you need if you have 4-5 inches on your opponent. last thing and I’m sure you never get that far but when you get a switch up high the off wing has to help on the roll to the basket size again can be a problem as was a couple times in the last game where Perkins was over matched.Ok but we're only talking defense in this thread. Obviously, but again, we're talking about defense only in this instance. And you could make the same off guard helping argument with switching on the perimeter. It goes both ways. Bottom line is Pat is not one of the top 5 defenders, although I do like his overall game.too bad you have to play both ends of the court with the same five players
it’s not the off guards responsibility in most cases it’s one of the forwards who has to provide help defense which would be Perkins if he is playing the forward position and you can ot limit the discussion to defense alone players have to play both ends of the court. so you saying Joe is a better defender would not be true if he were playing against someone much bigger,,,,which based on your postObviously, but again, we're talking about defense only in this instance. Good god man, we're only talking about defense!!! Why do you keep bringing up the other side of the court?? If we were talking all around games then that would be a different discussion. I'm done with this, it's going nowhere.it’s not the off guards responsibility in most cases it’s one of the forwards who has to provide help defense which would be Perkins if he is playing the forward position and you can ot limit the discussion to defense alone players have to play both ends of the court. so you saying Joe is a better defender would not be true if he were playing against someone much bigger,,,,which based on your post
glad you are done since you know so little about how team defensive skemes really work. plus not even sure at this point if Joe is a better defensive player…makes too many mistakes and does not play the pick and roll wellGood god man, we're only talking about defense!!!
