Mamba Mentality

There were times last night I was questioning heart and thought it was embarrassing to write “Mamba Mentality” on their shoes and then hang their heads. I about lost it when Wiesy didn’t get a call on one end and Iowa gives up a transition 3 while he is crying to the refs.....

With that being said... credit to Fran and staff for righting the ship mentally and the team for pulling their crap together to make a run against a team tha it is tough to do that to in 7 minutes.

Two more games in this 7 day stretch. They will be dead tired by Sunday. Need to have that Mamba Mentality for 80 more minutes of basketball this week!

It's respect for the game and the impact that Kobe's play had on the kids that are currently on the team. If something had happened to MJ 4 years after he retired you would have seen the same respect for him. Just paying tribute to the pioneers (from the current players childhood).

On top of it... if you struggle to understand why the outpouring of love for the dude. I was never a Kobe guy until I read the book 'Relentless' written by a guy who trained MJ, Kobe, and DWade. The mentality that those three have are lacking from many athletes and people in general in their professions.

Interesting aside during the game when the TV announcers said that the team asked if they could wear Koebe's Maumba shoes. They did, but in the second half, it looked like they went back to their usual shoes. I wondered if the shoe had anything to do with the poor shooting. Could make a case for it based on the first half shooting from 3, but in the second half the 3 shooting was not much better. Just a thought.

Bardo talked about that a little in the second half. I think he caught that it was just Garza that switched shoes. His opinion was that it was a superstition thing for Garza and that the shoes had absolutely nothing to do with the performance. I like Bardo and appreciate his commentary so I would roll with it.

However on the other end... there probably is a difference in comfort and maybe even weight. Who knows how it affects their mindset? Some of these kids are weird in that way.
