SEQUATCHIE COUNTY, Tenn. (WTVC) – A man from Tennessee is in custody after deputies say he killed an 18-year-old man Saturday who he found in bed with his wife.
According to an affidavit, a woman told Sequatchie County deputies that an “unidentified man” had attacked her boyfriend while they were in bed together.
Investigators discovered the “unidentified man” was the woman’s husband, 41-year-old Jonathan Belk.
Deputies found Belk standing in the doorway of the home, covered in blood with cuts on his hands.

Court documents say deputies found 18-year-old Billy Jean Floyd’s body inside a bloody trashcan, in the fetal position with multiple stab wounds.
According to the affidavit, when deputies asked Belk if he was worried about anything besides his current legal situation, he said, “I am worried about my relationship with my wife due to the fact that I offed him.”
Belk’s wife was also stabbed and injured.
Investigators are still searching for the knife used in the attack, but they said there is no danger to the community.

“This is an isolated incident to that home, and there’s no reason to believe that anyone else would be in any danger,” said Sequatchie County Sheriff Bill Phillips.
Belk is now in the Sequatchie County Jail facing several charges, including criminal homicide.

That's second degree murder, which does have a lot less penalty, and would seem to apply to this type of deal. (No forethought, heat of the moment.) First degree means planned or premeditated.

It seems counterintuitive, but that's how this usually plays out. Women do the same thing.

It's an instinctive reaction more than a moral one. Going after the other person makes more biological/evolutionary sense than going after the mother/father of your children.

I wonder if the 18 year old even knew the woman was married? He probably did, but cheaters conceal their marital status all the time.

I also wonder if there is more to the story, like maybe this was an arranged threesome or cuckold fetish situation gone wrong.

This was once the classic case of voluntary manslaughter, but I'm not sure if the law in most jurisdictions is as sympathetic as it once was to cuckolded husbands. Second degree murder tops. All very fact dependent.
