Mariners Manager has mild meltdown on field

LM is no stranger to having meltdowns...I seem to recall a couple other instances where he just plain lost it.

He might be feeling a lot of pressure because the addition of Cano hasn't yet yielded the results they thought they were going to get. He keeps this up and we're talking Lou Pinella level entertainment.

What does Mclendon have to do with the addition of Cano? He had nothing to do with it.

And yes, it was an excellent meltdown. Mariners are circling the drain.

Cano hasn't produced since his arrival. Watched the game on Wed. against the Yanks. Anemic offense and I think it's possible LC gets canned by the All-Star game. When your team is struggling, managers over react to situations. Cano's results have EVERYTHING to do with LC feeling the pressure.

As a Yankee fan, I love seeing those results, to date. Cano made a mistake leaving NY. He was to be the face of the team after Jeter left. His agent blew it, imo.

He batted .314 last year, which was his best BA since 2010, and made the All Star team! So no, he hasn't underachieved the entire time. He's definitely in a slump, but I would think it's waaaaaay too soon to call his contract a bust, especially given his long-term track record. Sounds like a certain Yankee fan still has sour grapes over Cano's departure.

And who is LC?

OK, LMc... had a brainfart. But I think it's simply an issue of the players surrounding Cano in Seattle that will make the contract look bad over the entire ten years. His batting average last year and the position he bats in the order don't jive. Kind of like Mauer in Twinsville. You insert a guy in the 3-4 spot in the batting order and you expect power numbers, which he didn't provide. He was the beneficiary of having guys pitched around in NY. With not much in front of him in Seattle, he's not going to get the benefit where he is now.

I definitely was disappointed when he left the Yankees. I won't deny that. But I simply think it's stupid to give anyone beyond 25-26 years old a ten year contract. That's why the Yankees were going with a seven year deal. More power to Cano for getting someone to pony up a ten year contract. But by the end of those ten years... he's going to be a VERY average player, imo
