Maryland crowd (or lack thereof)

Iowa not really a sexy opponent to sell either if we are being honest. Mid November, bad Maryland team, Iowa as your opponent. Kind of adds up.
I'm sure the seniors understood.

I was at Maryland in '14 when they were a brand new in the B1G and a decent team and that crowd was pathetic, also. To think they've got Iowa's population probably packed within a 25-mile radius of their stadium and they can't draw worth a shit. I guess that's pro sports country and that's that (Similar to Rutgers, UCLA, Northwestern...).

I still don't get the Rutgers addition. Yeah, I know....that NY TV market. There were plenty of B1G alum there already... you telling me the B1G had no presence?
Lot's of tv sets in and around New Jersey and Maryland. The Big 10 knows that if they can get really good viewership when the original teams play out east and yet another 100,000 viewers then the ratings will be find for that time slot.

Mich, OSU, and PSU fans will watch in big numbers when they play at Rutgers and Maryland. I didnt see the ratings on Iowa's game there Saturday but I am sure there were a lot of hawk fans watching, even from the west coast.

I was there as well. Pretty good Iowa contingent, they got louder than Maryland fans as game progressed. Gotta say I really liked Terp fans, had friendly conversations with several of them.
All 100 of them. What an embarrassment to the Big 10, no one ever cared to show up for a Big 10 football game. Flipping over to the OSU vs Indy game, then back to the Hawk/Terp funeral was embarrassing.

I remember that type of games in the 60's and 70's in Kinnick. Would buy knot hole tickets and slip up to the 50-yard line 40 rows up to watch ND pound Iowa.
