You could probably make the case Iowa State has the best defense in the Big XII.
Overall, the Big XII is ass when it comes to defense; that's not debatable.

It’s also fair to say Iowa is battling Akron and Kansas for the worst offense ISU will play all season.
Iowa’s D is “that good” though so probably a top 3 team ISU will play this season. And ISU is one of the top 3 teams Iowa will play this season too.

East or West? Outside of Wisconsin and Iowa, the west is marginal with NW and Purdue.
East with Michigan, tOSU, MSU, and PSU are much better than Texas and Oklahoma, WVU, and TCU.
Iowa beat ISU and Maryland beat Texas. I will say, Kansas beat Rutgers but the B1G is better then the really weak Big 12.

I’m not ripping on Iowa. They have imo the best team in the Big Ten West. Better than Wisconsin imo, but had some bad breaks in the game against them. Hope they get their shot against OSU/Michigan winner.
I’m just glad Iowa’s defense continues to dominate as it had me very concerned about ISU’s offense after that game.

I think the offense that Iowa put on the field that day they played ISU in September was maybe the worst offense ISU will see all year.
However, I think Iowa’s offense is much better now then they were then. Sign of a well coached team. Hard to say. Iowa’s offense is decent now, but I wouldn’t say explosive. The defense Iowa is putting on the field is enough to keep them in a game with anyone in the country right now except Bama who will unfortunate destroy everyone.
Really that offense will be worst all year they face? You guys still have to play Kansas and Incarnate Word. Iowa can play 8 guys and still be more dangerous on offense then Incarnate freaking Word.
1st game of the year is warm up and counts very little. Texas is #7 and it appears that Iowa may not play one ranked team this whole season prior to a bowl game.....wow, what a schedule! LOL!
You have to admit it was pretty bad that day. I’m happy to see ISU has a decent D, but Iowa’s offense wasn’t exactly stellar that day. Good enough to win I guess, but that was on your D dominating the game.

False. There are garbage teams in the B1G Ten, but there is plenty of offense. The B1G just also plays defense unlike the Big XII.
JD does raise some fair points. And at least he is not talking about missed first game, super bowl, etc. I think ISU is darn good this year. I am so tired of conference comparisons and transitive theories. I actually think both teams are good and both conferences are worse than I thought. But actually that could be said for all conferences but the SEC. Both the PAC 12 and the ACC are really bad with the only exception being Clemson.
If you could win some games perhaps you could make it 3 ranked teams.

Funny cause I thought that number in front of Wisconsin actually meant something when they played Iowa. Also penn st is top 20 and we play them next week.
Also tell that to the selection committee that first game doesn’t matter because if Texas runs the table and comparing them to other one loss teams I’m sure they won’t give them a pass cause they played week one and loss to a mediocre Maryland team. First game counts as much as the last game along with all the games in beteeen.
