Mason Parris School List and Visits

Kind of telling that none of the biggest schools/perennial title contenders are on there. It indicates to me that the fear is VERY real that he chooses football...which would be smart for him. The schools a little further down have to take chances by devoting resources that others are going to use on more "sure thing" types. "Sure thing" being that they will wrestle, because Parris is definitely a monster recruit if he chooses wrestling.

Or Minny has Gable, Iowa has Cass, tOSU has Singletary, and PSU has Nevills so need for them to go after Parris. ASU and OSU are title contenders with a need at 285 and they are on the list.
I'm very happy with Iowa's situation at 285 with Cass, Costello, and most likely Duggan

Speaking of Cass, has he wrested any of the tops guys? Results?

ASU is most definitely not a title contender or even particularly close at the moment. OSU is not on the list. I would take Parris over every guy you have listed for the other schools except Gable. Now obviously the coaching staffs may disagree with me, but I'm just going off what I see and the P4P and recruiting rankings I see around.

Title contender this year, no. Trophy contender this year, yes. Valencia bros. Tshirt, Tanner Hall, 25 lb transfer from oklahoma AA, Naser, Mauruca , Shields. Pretty solid team.

Solid team, sure, but I don't see them really challenging for a trophy. They only have two guys likely to be high AA, Zahid and Hall. Milhof maybe, but 125 is LOADED. A. Valencia is good, but is still in a loaded weight and I don't see him as a lock to be in the top 5. The rest of the guys are pretty unproven. Penn State, Ohio State and Oklahoma State are all clear of them definitively off the top of my head. JMO.

Yeah, ASU could have a really strong lineup. Still, it is amazing how tough the top 4 or so teams are. ASU will have a very hard time getting a Trophy.

125:Millhof 7th as a True Soph 2 years ago
133:Naser? Didn't pan out last season but has major potential(Freestyle anyway)
141:Villareal Going into his Junior season. Big time recruit, has yet to pan out.
149:Maruca 2-2 at NCAA's as a Freshman last season. Knocked Collica out of NCAA's.
157:Tsirtsis Don't expect him to be what he once was, but could still AA.
165:Shields Expecting Shields to move here with the Valencias moving up as well. Went 1-2 as a Freshman.
174:A. Valencia- R12 as a Frosh.
184:Z. Valencia-3rd
197:???
285:Hall-4th

14-0 at Disney

Last year finished 2nd at Fargo.
Beat Isley - Semifinal: Anthony Cassioppi (Illinois) over Carter Isley (Iowa) (Dec 9-2)

Lost to Gremmel - 1st Place Match: Gannon Gremmel (Iowa) over Anthony Cassioppi (Illinois) (TF 14-4)

He's pinned Costello a couple times - maybe Greco

Northern Plains - 1st Place Match: Tony Cassioppi (Illinois) over Keaton Kluever (Wisconsin) (TF 19-9). Kluever is #5

He pinned Costello at folkstyle nationals, dominated the match up to that point. Also pinned Costello In The consi semis at Fargo last year in Greco. He's also teched zach muller 11-0 at freestyle state, Muller was ranked 20th last year and I know he pinned Ronald tucker in like 40 seconds at UWW's in freestyle, tucker is currently ranked 8th in the country and was a Powerade champ as a freshman

No Iowa - which the Big C signing kinda of took care of that. Still think he will be a handful if he chooses wrestling.

As a died hard wrestling fan, I would always prefer to see a big, unbelievably athletic and talented kid choose wrestling as I think its great for the sport.

As a die hard IOWA wrestling fan, I would prefer to see that same kid play football than wrestle for a team that could beat us at nationals. :)

Right now Parris has one or two P5 offers, and a lot of mid majors for football. If things stay the way they are, I think there is a decent chance he chooses wrestling. If he gets offers from better programs, I think he plays football. Lots of risk spending valuable time recruiting him, IMO.

It is possible he's not as good of a college wrestling prospect as everyone thinks.
Although I'm not going to say he is not a great prospect, I do agree with this somewhat. I thought he was way overranked when listed as the #2 prospect and posted so.

1. He's not a full-size heavy right now, and yes, I know there are smaller heavies that have some success, he's not Kyle Snyder, mainly because:
2. He is ranked on potential as his experience is limited so far in comparison to other heavies. Yes, that gives him a great upside, but generally catching up experience-wise can take longer than people think. So is that upside going to translate quickly? You're only in college for four or five years.
3. There are a number of good heavies available in this class that don't have those questions (Gable S., Nevills, Casioppi, etc.). So him putting on weight, passing these prospects, and others already in college is not the slam dunk that the ranking may suggest. The ranking suggests a NC or at least a finals appearance expectations.

Throw in the football thing and you can see why the very top colleges are probably very happy where they stand in regards to recruiting a heavy in this class.
