Math is Hard

So is geography ""I don't have any specifics quite yet, but it's for sure staying in the Midwest," he said. "I want to stay in the Big Ten."

I thought Mark handled the loss very well. Good, solid handshake afterward, no pouting, etc., that you might have expected from a kid who'd come in with so much hype. Seems like he has a good sense of humor about it. Good for him.

Yea...fan expectation have been so unreal for him. We'll get a taste of that ourselves with Spencer. That's why I'm like, quit the 4X talk, domination every time out expectations. Saw a serious question after the dual on BWI..."Do you think Bo has surpassed Zain and Nolf?" I guess because Bo pinned quick and Zain and Nolf didn't get bonus despite beating high level guys. Now that's spoiled.

Hall is a good one. He lost to a seasoned AA. No shame in that. Nickal is an animal for sure. Those other two aren't bad either. Good competition slows down an onslaught. The G-man was a great example also. Big difference in a cupcake and a good wrestler.

This is Mark Hall's text to his girlfriend after the loss, they must not get to math till the 2nd year at psu. 1+1=2

His loss earlier this year doesn't go down as an official collegiate loss since he was competing unattached. That's why Cael is considered undefeated despite his loss to the late Paul Jenn.

I'm pretty sure your season record all becomes official once your redshirt is pulled, even matches occuring while competing unattached, for example Joe Smith last year. Caels loss didn't count because he redshirted the entire season in which the loss occurred.

Well said WWDM. I'm thrilled that Meyer beat him. Brought back memories of Bubba beating the "golden boy" Taylor in the ncaa finals.

Iowa fans, myself included, were just giddy and surprised that Meyer beat Hall. But it's a testament to Hall's talent that it was shocking to everyone that the 5th year SR AA wrestling at home in Carver prevailed against a true fr (a bit undersized at that) in his first official start.

Hall took the loss as a good sport, and will likely have a stellar career at PSU, and even representing USA on the FS circuit after college.

What LaxHawk said.

The future is bright for Hall who is 2 and 2 against ranked opponents this year. He has beaten #5 and #10 and lost matches to #13 and #19. Good stuff for a true older freshman.

Kind of valid point. But Spencer being at a lighter weight and with his current accolades, it is not unreasonable to set the expectations that high in my opinion.

I personally don't care how Hall does the rest of the season; I'm just hoping that win lit a fire inside Meyer. He had to love the roar of that crowd.
