I have been in the camp that Patrick, as hard as he works and as skilled as he may be, is simply to frail to be truly effective against bigger, stronger B1G competition. Given his physical limitations it has been my biggest hope for him that he simply remained healthy and had an enjoyable college career playing alongside his brother and for his dad. Of course I still hope for that as we all do. With that said, this dude gives me greater hope that perhaps Patrick can provide more than just some minutes to fill in for others. I know he's a lot taller than Patrick which is an innate advantage that he and other string beans like Bol Bol have, but they still have to hold their own against much stronger players underneath and around the basket. Skill and motivation can overcome a lot. Hoping Patrick can do the same.

P Mac is going to be a hell of a player. He and Ke Murray give the Hawks a pair of pretty versatile guys that have offensive skills and defensive enthusiasm and effort. P Mac on the front of the zone is a big step up in athleticism and size there.

I think Murray will get more minutes because he seems more complete on defense and on the glass, which is going to earn premium minutes when teams try to punch it in against Garza to either get him to foul or at the very least, make him spend the energy to defend the post every time down.

Patrick's physical development will allow him to play against b1g level competition this year. He'll still have his ups and downs, but I don't see him being completely overmatched physically like he would have been last season.
