How in the world does Ohio State get that many votes? That team has been ranked too high all year.

Kinda crazy, Iowa busts it's way into the AP Top 25 in Week 11, they have one bad week followed by 3 solid weeks and are just now making their way back into the "others receiving votes" category? Now I am starting to think these polls are almost meaningless. Keep it rollin' Hawks. Obviously, being considered as a potential 6/7 seed seems a lot more impressive then being ranked in a poll that still has Ohio State above the Hawks.

Sure doesn't matter much any more. I'm sure it's true just about every year, but its awfully hard to figure out what to make out of teams 15-30. So many 4,5,6 seeds seem wildly unpredictable (present company included). Arkansas? Providence? Butler? Notre Dame? Georgetown? SMU? Utah? WVU? Bracketing will be really tough for all of these. I don't think I can trust any of those teams in their opener with any confidence. And a lot of those 12 and 13 seeds seem better this year than in the past with the possibility of even moving up a spot if there are a couple bid thieves lurking in the remaining conference tournaments.

Basketball polls never mean much, and this time of year they are almost entirely irrelevant. It'll be decided by the matchups on the court, and being ranked #12 ain't gonna help Wichita State any more than getting more votes than Iowa is gonna help the wildly overrated Buckeyes.

Let's play ball.

A bit of a change of subject, but soon some folks will be filling out their brackets for their NCAA Tournament pools.

I gotta warn you......this is the type of year (they all are, but this one is worse) that somebody will win by letting their two year old circle team names.

B-ball polls aren't generally worth much this time of year. Even less so for Iowa this year.
Whether they somehow squeaked into the top 25 or are just getting a few votes it won't affect their seeding in the Big Dance.

Im not sure Indiana and Illinois are scrubs per se.

Being ranked is very important. It translates into significantly greater media exposure which, in turn, leads to a higher recruiting profile.

Its important to try and get and stay ranked. Not the only thing but an important part of being a topflight program.

It earned a ranking for the two ranked MVC teams. Im not saying theyre not really good but how good? other than playing themselves and UNI playing Iowa who else have they played?

Main point is how many wins does Iowa have today if they played w.st's schedule? alot more

Win one game in the dance and these guys are on target. Win two and those griping about it can say 'I told ya so'

Who cares about the polls? It's been the best year I can remember in a long time for the Hawks and all they need to do is keep beating the teams they should. If they win a game in the BTT and win a game in the NCAA's, I'd be ecstatic regardless of how they're ranked.

This.

I wonder how much different it would be if it were a Top 30 rankings? I suppose theoretically right now every voter could think we're the 26th best team and we'd have no votes

RPI is a Joke
You telling me that Gonzaga had a tougher schedule of games than Iowa. They're in the cupcake league and I don't expect them to make it out of the round of 32.

North Carolina and Ohio State ranked ahead of Iowa?.........
