McCarthy says he’s willing to look at expunging a Trump impeachment

You don't think the Rs will find a cause? Come on.

I think their cause will be some BS thing about Hunter Biden's laptop or about the withdrawal from Afganistan.

The problem with the first reason is because all of that was known prior to Biden being elected AND most if it is focused on his son not him.

The second is that even if you think the president has done a terrible job, the constitution proscribes impeachment for "High crimes and misdemeanors" . . . in other words abuse of the office or a crime of some sort. It doesn't proscribe impeachment for sucking at being president.

The point of this is of course to simply turn impeachment into a partisan joke so that people ignore the very real wrongdoing and abuse of power that Donald Trump engaged in.

My mistake. Yes I think they were "impeachable" actions. As will Bidens when it happens. Doesn't mean it should happen or that it didn't happen for politics.

Do you think W ever did anything that would have been "impeachable"?
So, a president who commits an impeachable act shouldn't be impeached? Wouldn't the failure to do so constitute a dereliction of duty?

To this point, the acts I've read the MTG/McCarthy wing of the GOP have threatened to impeach Biden over are policy positions and don't meet the standard. Maybe they'll try the classified documents route but it was Trump who made that a crime so I don't think that qualifies. If he does commit a high crime or misdemeanor", then he should be face trial.

I don't know if Bush did. I know he never faced impeachment so either the House didn't think he did or felt he couldn't prove it.

Regardless, the "both sides" argument is weK and a huge factor in why today's politicians aren't held accountable.

I'm not arguing that he should be impeached.

Don't be silly Hoosier. It's a bad look for you. There are several videos out there of dems talking about impeachment from day one.

This idiot didn't belong anywhere near the Oval Office. Evidence: issues surfaced since. Including crimes they are to hesitant to pursue against a former President for appearance and precedence .

Let's put this in perspective. A former Presidents crime's reluctant to pursue. A former President that can't form a non-profit organization in New York state due to former fraud crimes. A President owning a business recently convicted of tax fraud. A President owning businesses that have paid out tens of millions of fraud through litigation. He is a walking talking con-man. A "businessman" who couldn't make it in profit-rich casino world with 450 million of Daddy's money. Orange Turd Kool Aid fans are fools.

The "person" is a constant embarrassment, claiming he won the election he lost, fueling his base and state wanna-be followers to likewise refuse election results with no factual basis.

He is the perfect example of something unfit and incapable of the office, and his behavior during the term confirmed this.

I believe dems were looking to impeach him the day he was elected. Just like the Rs are now. Just gotta find a reason.

Well, Trump certainly gave them a couple…

No actually, I don’t think W did anything impeachable. I don’t think he was a good president, but nothing that rose to impeachment.
