Jesus Christ is the GOP imploding:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell
reportedly told colleagues they will drop GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump “like a hot rock.”

McConnell reassured Republican members of the upper chamber they could run negative ads against Trump if he becomes the nominee and it threatens their re-election, reports The New York Times.

Additionally, McConnell told Republican senators during the members’ weekly lunch that the potential of Trump losing to Hillary Clinton is a given and it is best to describe to voters that a Republican Senate is a necessary check to a Clinton presidency.

Senators inside the lunch said McConnell reminded them of his successful 1996 re-election campaign when he won by a wide margin during President Bill Clinton’s easy re-election bid.

Heaven forbid that Trump get in the way of them getting re-elected!

The GOP is gong to lose the Senate majority in November.
You can take that to the bank. Mitch McConnell sees the
handwriting on the wall. However, he squandered his time
as Senate Majority Leader. Mitch is no leader and should
retire.

They're not going to keep the Senate. Shows how stupid Droopy the Dog is.
I think it'll be a split. Very, very possibly a split.
To the point on McConnell specifically, I have been saying for months that it's laughable for Trump shout out at all the stuff he'll do. Congress doesn't take orders from him, and you have 50 states represented with a wide disparity of thoughtful members of Congress (Both sides), to total incompetents (Both sides), to wild egomaniacs who won't follow anyone's lead (Both sides).

I'm not so sure the Dems will win back the Senate. A few unforeseeable factors could tilt the balance either way. Neither side should take anything for granted when it comes to the Senate.

You're a lot more optimistic than I am. I just don't believe it's set up for a split or a win on the Republican's side.

It will depend on turnout and who the Republicans nominate/broker. Illinois is a lock of a pick up right now. Sitting member of Congress and wounded veteran in Tammy Duckworth versus Mark Kirk. Also a vet, but God bless him he had a stroke and can barely campaign. I think Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are pick ups. I think that would draw it even, but Harry Reid's seat is up and that's a toss up right now, as is Marco Rubio's seat. Sandoval not running in Nevada did help the Democrats in Nevada, but if the Dems select Grayson in Florida he's a nut and will lose to any competent Republican. In high turnout election the Dems could even flip the seat in North Carolina. Burr is uninspiring and he is facing a Tea Party challenger in the primary who could severely wound him before the general election.
