A man was arrested after police say he was underage in a bar and had a fake Hawaii ID under the name "McLovin" in downtown Iowa City early Friday.
Daniel Alfredo Burleson, 20, of Des Moines, faces several alcohol-related charges in connection to the incident, according to online Johnson County Jail records.
Amazon searches for the fake Hawaii ID with the name and DOB for "McLovin" result in several versions for purchase as gifts alongside fake IDs for Elvis Presley or fictional cartoon character Homer Simpson.
The IDs were inspired by the 2007 teen comedy "Superbad" after a character who successfully purchased alcohol with a fake Hawaii ID under his self-proclaimed name "McLovin."
It was 12:31 a.m. Friday, when an Iowa City Police officer was in the Airliner Bar, located at 22 S. Clinton St, and approached Burleson who had a drink in his hand, according to an Iowa City Police complaint.
Burleson allegedly admitted he was drinking a beverage containing vodka and refused to provide his ID. Police say he was taken out of the bar area and then showed officers his real ID, indicating he was under the age of 21.
Officers asked Burleson for his fake ID and he said he didn't have one, according to the report.
He then "pulled out his wallet and began shuffling through the wallet and police could see [his] fake Hawaii ID with the name 'McLovin DOB 06/03/1981," the report says.
Burleson allegedly told officers he bought the ID from Amazon. Police say dispatch ran a search of his fake ID, which failed to turn up a result.
According to the report, Burleson was wearing a wristband from the Airliner Bar and had slurred speech and bloodshot watery eyes.
He faces charges including public intoxication, under legal age in a bar, possession of a fictitious license and possession of alcohol while underage, according to online jail records.
