How many does the NCAA allow per person? If someone has a situation where they may miss an entire season (or most of) more than once, could they potentially qualify for 2 additional years? Speaking specifically about Cassar. Sorry if this has already been discussed.

You may get a 7th year and it has happened in other sports. You may be able to get an 8th but I don’t believe that has happened yet.

There’s already some precedent set by the NCAA. Grant Leeth was granted two additional years. Kinda crazy, since he graduated college but still had three years of eligibility remaining.
In Cassar’s case, he wrestled in 3 opens his freshman season. The following summer he was injured at junior worlds and did not enroll at PSU for his RSFR season. The following fall, he injured the same shoulder about a week into the start of the season and missed his entire sophomore year.
So, he’s only wrestled two seasons using the “new” rules, or three seasons by the “old” rules. Either way, he’s getting 1 year back for sure.

Starting to think the sport of wrestling needs to be detached from the NCAA and just become a professional sport.

No more worry about scholarships, eligibility, etc.

Each team can field 10 guys. Best guy goes. Doesn't matter if they're graduated or not.

The foundation is already set with regional training centers. The regional training centers can just adopt Folkstyle in addition to freestyle.
Ummm, are you talking about the same NCAA that governs "amateur" football and basketball? Wrestling is nowhere near the joke of some other sports.

Real Pro Wrestling.

American Wrestling League.

And you think hundreds of college-aged guys are going to make a living (or pay for tuition if they actually do want an education at the same time) through a professional wrestling framework that replaces NCAA wrestling?

And you call me a goofball and a dumbass.
