Since that's Kofi's shooting range- zero feet- you're saying the over/under on his points scored against Iowa is 9? I'd take that.
Torvik has Illinois top 6 and Kenpom will likely have the team top 15 to start, I think you're desperately hoping here.
Illinois has the best center (Kofi) and best point guard (Curbello) in the league surrounded by shooters. Trent Frazier was all defensive team and will finish in the top 7-8 all time in Illinois scoring. Damonte Williams led the Big Ten in three point shooting percentage. Alphonso Plummer averaged 14 in the PacTen and once had 11 threes in a single game. Illinois was 16-2 last year with Jacob Grandison at the four. Omar Payne is a shot blocking center to back up Kofi. 6-11 Coleman Hawkins has added 20 pounds and is a skilled stretch four. 6-6 Austin Hutcherson is healthy and is the best athlete in the team.
Illinois recruited three 4-star players who will be freshmen. 6-5 Brandin Podziemski was the Wisconsin Mr. Basketball. 6-7 RJ Melendez and 6-8 Luke Goode are the others. Three four stars who will likely be 10, 11, 12th men.
I think Illinois is going to be pretty good.
Never said they won't be good. Your cohort said they shouldn't lose to a "mediocre" team and that they'll be in the top 15 all year. Curbelo is pretty good, I agree but the season hasn’t started yet. Maybe Joe Toussaint this season will be the best pg in the league. I think I’ll just watch and see how the games are played before deciding who is the best at each position. I’m guessing you thought Kofi was the best center in the B1G last year.
This. Is it even certain that Kofi is the best returning center? Sounds like the jinx is in now😉
Any idea on when game times might be announced? Seems like they are usually out before single game tickets go on sale, which is this week.
Curbello is the guy that scares me the most.....I'm not sure how I would describe his game (rubber band man with great quickness?), but he seems to always be able to make a play of some sort. My hope is that this year Joe and AU are better able to slow him down. It will be interesting to see how Curbello does as the lead guard who every other team scouts and works to stop.
