Mexico offers escorted rides north from southern Mexico for migrants with US asylum appointments

This doesn't sound like a disaster at all.
a) MEXICO (not the US) is providing the bus rides for
b) people who have appointments.
Based on the article, it sounds like there is a system in place, and they are protecting vulnerable people from abduction and exploitation. I think it seems pretty reasonable to hear asylum claims from people who live in countries where corruption is rampant.

Exactly

The whole thing is ridiculous. Allowing people to pass through other countries/using an app to claim asylum and the pass through country is giving them rides.

Stupid asylum laws like the Refugee Act of 1980 (Senate vote 88-0 and House vote was 328-47), and treaties the US signed and approved by the Senate under Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of that pesky Constitution.

There's a history of selectively enforcing laws. For instance the current administration's decision to not engage in workplace enforcement or to deport many illegal aliens. You know, those pesky "stupid" laws.

Seems wise considering the risks associated with walking across a country the size of Mexico, what these people have endured to get to southern Mexico, and they already have appointments.

If we deported all the illegals tomorrow, inflation would soar and you wouldn’t be able to find labor for construction and landscaping in any major city.

Yet you weren’t complaining about laws being selectively enforced.

You were complaining about Mexico helping people with US asylum appointments cross Mexico to make their appointments.

That’s what you want, yes? People following US law to the letter.

One can take issue with both.

It would be nice if democrats would get on board to address asylum abuse.

Asylum appointments and claims are legal, Cletus.

If you wanted that changed, to make asylum claims more rigorously reviewed, then you should have supported the Border Bill that Biden and conservatives negotiated.

They did. They passed a bill thru the Senate that Biden would have signed.

Your GOP buddies would not even give it a vote in the House, because it would have passed.
The OK conservative who worked on it for years got thrown under the bus.

But we're to believe that it's the Democrats who have moved radically to the left. And several here have already mentioned how the GOP House, at the behest of Orange Jesus, torpedoed a bipartisan bill that passed the Senate. Queue the "bOtH sIdEs!" people to tell us why our government is so dysfunctional.
