Just makes you think what could have been for Spievey if he wasn't a domestic abuser ... he's a another talented Hawk that could have been getting seriously "paid." Of course, it leads to a big 'what if' scenario ... if he'd been around Phil Parker and the Hawks for the full duration of his college career. Maybe he'd have been more mature person as a whole? I dunno ....

I don't care about him getting paid, personally, but I love the fact that he made the pro bowl! He was so badly underutilized by the Packers. I'm glad he got to get out of there and show off his skills in Buffalo.

It was arguably a mistake by (Kirk) Ferentz in '14 ... but he was willing to single out Scherff as perhaps being a best-ever O-lineman at Iowa. It was a mistake ... because it played against his critical mantra of team over the individual. In some senses, perhaps because it concerned an O-lineman, Ferentz let his guard down and let himself "play a favorite." Given the skill-level and work-ethic of Scherff ... it's easy to understand why Kirk made such a mistake. However, that sort of mistake likely added fuel to the flames for that particular season.

Fortunately, as we all learned afterwards, Kirk was very self-reflective after '14 ... and showed great humility and personal growth ... and we subsequently saw a "rebirth" of the Hawks in '15.

It will be interesting to see how the Hawks continue to proceed forward in '18 and beyond.

Also, it will be interesting to see how the future NFLers Iowa will produce move forward too ... and see if they can have the same sort of success as guys like Daniels, Bulaga, Reiff, Scherff, Hyde, and now King ... among others!

Crazy that he went from limited usage to Pro Bowl! Packers D is not good... Starting to see why.... Not using players correctly!

Pumped about Hyde! Dom Capers is a doddering fool. Hyde was their best db and they couldn't see it. What a waste. Anyway I'll look for Hyde to have success in Buffalo for another 8-9 years.

I'll add a few because it's fun: Dallas Clark, Bob Sanders, Nate Kaeding, Yanda, Hitchens, Kampman.

Kampman was an unsung hero in the early KF years! His numbers for a d lineman were especially bananas. Great NFL career too.

Getting paid wasn't the reason I posted that tweet it was making the pro bowl I was happy about

What?! An NFL coaching staff that doesn't play the best players? Is that possible? And yet when some of us question Iowa's use--or lack of use--of personnel, some posters point out that coaches always know best and, for sure, always play the best players.

Well, this is more evidence that maybe the title of "coach," even in the NFL, doesn't include the adjective "infallible."

Congrats to Hyde, who was fun to watch at Iowa. Like most of you, I will always remember his TD return vs. MSU off the lateral from Tyler Sash, and his similarly brilliant game-winning TD return of the interception vs. Missouri in Iowa's last bowl win.
