Michigan’s Tightend Erick All **edit. Visiting Iowa

This Michigan TE sounds like he would be a great addition, just hope it wouldn't push Luke to enter the portal. What happened with the transfer TE they brought in last year, was he hurt or just not good enough to play?
He played as the in line TE in blocking situations. TE3 as a receiver was the freshman Ostrenga

Any chance Stillianos could be converted to OL? He’s already listed at 6-5/264. Back in KF’s early days, some of our best OLs were converted TEs.
Sure, they converted right after high school. Gallery, Steinbach etcc, not a guy who's in his 4th year in college...

Ah, got it. So it’s like a Jedi Knight thing. If you don’t get them early enough, they might fall to the dark side.

Sounds more like the UM doctors being vindictive a-holes because the player didn’t trust their opinion.
UM Hospital is one of the best in the country. If they wouldn’t clear him, I am willing to bet there’s a solid medical reason why. It sounds more like All didn’t like their opinion and shopped around till he found someone willing to do what he wanted done. This other place is advertising how they operated on him and even referring to it as “life-saving”.

If there's anything more toxic than their football culture, it's their medical culture. If you can't see one of their doctors being an arrogant prick, you've never been to Ann Arbor.

In my mind, the decision belongs with the athlete,.. Michigan clears new recruits for the field all the time. No reason why they can't check this guy out to either medically clear or disqualify him,... Blocking him from the field simply because he chose to seek health care elsewhere isn't right.

Yeah, I wouldn't bet on that. This isn't the only instance Michigan basically forced someone to medically retire but then they transferred somewhere else and played.

And it probably should, but then all liability should also fall on the athlete too. He had back surgery, even if it was minimally invasive I don’t imagine that being a minor recovery.

If his recovery is incomplete then he absolutely not be allowed to play,.. however it doesn't sound like that's what's going on here.

U of M hospital is extremely conservative in clearing players. On multiple occasions they refused to clear a player, said player transfered to another school and never showed signs of the complication that Umich medical said he'd have. A recent example of this is St. Juste who Umich "medically retired," but he chose to transfer to Minny and now is in the NFL looking just fine.

And, yes...U of M hospital is outstanding overall. However, that doesn't mean there aren't specialists at other hospitals that are better. Umich athletes going to other hospitals for a specific surgery is not irregular. But as you point out this other hospital seems to be using this for publicity which seems like a red flag...I honestly don't know what the story is...just seems like there is more to it.

All in All (pun intended), I hope his rehab at Iowa or wherever he ends up goes well. He's got talent and I've only heard positives about his character. Wish him the best.

The guy the played in the 70s and in the NFL?
Yup. A buddy of mine was at their house when McCarney called and told them he was switching him to OL, the call ended with Mike saying “I knew he should have went to Iowa.” Then he refused to shake McCarney’s hand, I can’t remember if it was on senior day or if Mike was being honored for something.

You want to play tight end in the NFL All , you come to tight end U.
No one utiizes tight ends more than Iowa.
Except Mahomes. Lol
You want him throwing to you one day, come to Iowa.

Would love to see All and Lachey on the field at the same time. Big blockers for the run game that can also catch passes or block for wide receivers lined up behind them. Brecht is decent but we need a tall fast WR from the portal and some O Linemen. Guys can and do get hurt, we need depth.

Medicine is far from an exact science ... people miss things sometimes. And, for that matter, my guess is that that sort of thing happens at most programs (Iowa included). Unfortunately, when your playing career is subject to such potential errors ... it definitely can color your view of the place it happened at (even though it could have happened anywhere).

No doubt, that’s why getting a 2nd or even 3rd opinion is wise. A seasoned nursing friend of ours always reminds people ”50% of Doctors finish in the bottom half of their class”.

I heard Blake Corum and Ronnie Bell and the entire offensive line are coming to Iowa 😜

They have until mid-January I believe, the early signing period for new guys is almost upon us. Then we find out if anyone is hedging on their commitment to us.
yeah, there is some offensive tackle from Des Moines that I was kindf of curious about.

A Notre Dame TE declared for the draft and that may make them tougher competition. We’ve got Cade, but college kids can be unpredictable.
