Iowa hosts MSU this weekend in their final home B1G series. Iowa is 8-10 and in 10th in the B1G. Illinois is 9th at 9-9 with Maryland, OSU, and PSU tied for 6th at 10-8. Iowa needs to win this series 2-1 or 3-0 to have any shot at the B1G tournament. I am not really holding my breath on that.

Friday - 6pm - CJ Eldred
Saturday - 2pm - Tyler Peyton
Sunday - 1pm - Calvin Mathews

It sounds like Nick Gallagher's injury was a groin injury last week, those can certainly linger.

MSU will for sure start one lefty on Saturday, as Sunday is TBA for them. If I were them, I'd start a lefty on Sunday too if I could. Iowa for whatever reason is not good against left handed pitchers.

Regardless, it would be nice if Iowa got a nice crowd and sent the seniors out on a good note. Let's not forget that this seniors were a big part of last years amazing season and we want to wish them nothing but the best!

Standing as of right now.

Minnesota 14-5 (Pur-1, OSU-3)
Indiana 14-6 (Ill-1, Neb-3)
Michigan 12-7 (OSU-1, Ill-3)
Michigan State 12-8 (Iowa-1, Mary-3)
Ohio State 12-8 (Mich-1, Minn-3)
Nebraska 12-8 (PSU-1, Ind-3)
Penn State 11-9 (Neb-1, Iowa-3)
Maryland 10-10 (Rut-1, MSU-3)
Illinois 10-10 (Ind-1, Mich-3)
Iowa 9-11 (MSU-1, PSU-3)
Rutgers 8-12 (Mary-1, NW-3)
Northwestern 5-16
Purdue 2-21

Hawks were able to even the series today, solid outing from Peyton again in a 3-1 win. Still in the hunt for the conference tourney, they'll pretty much have to win out though.

Basically, they do have to win out IMO. There are some possibilities at 4-1 as well. I just am not seeing it with how the offense has been this year.

It's nice to see Tyler Peyton get back on track these last two weeks. That is the Peyton we were expecting/hoping for all season.

Iowa beats Michigan State 5-1 today and takes the series. Iowa travels to Penn State for a Thursday-Saturday series with the B1G tournament on the line. If Iowa wins 2/3 @ PSU then it probably gets them to Omaha (not guaranteed though). If Iowa gets a sweep then they'd for sure be there. Iowa could still finish as high as 6th if my calculations are correct.

Now we know how this team has been/offense has looked especially on the road. So I am not holding my breath, but it is definitely possible.

Need to win at least 2 at penn state but helps that we own tiebreakers against Maryland and Illinois.

Those are huge, and if Iowa wins 2/3 @ PSU we'd both be 12-12 but have the tie breaker over them. Like I said, 2-1 probably gets Iowa in but no guarantee. While 3-0 would for sure get them in.

I was happy that Mathews finished his home career on a high note. I wasn't aware of his injury history until reading the article last week. That he stuck it out under the circumstances makes him a great Hawk IMHO.

I was not aware of the problems either. I thought when he was struggling, he could maybe be used in relief. I did not realize it took him 40 minutes to warm up, so relief is not an option.
