Heading there for the Hawks/Spartans in 2 weeks. Never been to East Lansing. Any good spots to hit up? How is their tailgating? Should hear kickoff time next Monday but thinking night game. Thanks

Went there maybe 15ish years ago. All I remember is:
- my buddy wasn't feeling great and puked eating a breakfast burrito I made.
- we were running routes tailgating at a school and I threw a pass over a tree not to realize there was a second tree behind that one. Had to get a custodian and a ladder to get my ball.
- we went on 4th and 1 with less than 2 min to go instead of kicking a long fg. The fullback went the wrong way and got stuffed for the loss.

2008. That was a tough loss.

We were at that one, too.
A group of 20 of us rode Amtrak from Illinois to East Lansing. Fun going out, drank the bar car out of beer in minutes. Loooong ride back because passenger trains have to yield to freights.
I recall that there wasn't much around the stadium (like the vendors at Iowa on Melrose). Actually pretty dead tailgating there. Most are in remote parking lots and bus in.
One of our group knew Gary Dolphin and we had his parking pass right up front by the stadium. A lot of the high dollar State fans were wondering how a bunch of us lowlife Hawk supporters were able to infest their sacred area.

Isn't that the case everywhere.

Did anyone take a dump in said parking spot and leave it?

The tailgating scene is pretty spread out, like you see in IC. I went there for a spell and couldn't tell you of any real hotspots.

2008 with Shonn Greene at MI ST

I was almost positive it was Greene but I couldn't remember. It's crazy that I used to remember dang near every player and play during the 2002-2010 stretch. Those are fleeting now.
Shonn Greene was the RB on the 08 team and had a stellar season. The FB that went the wrong way was a walk on white guy iirc, name escapes me. Should have beat MSU that day, NW the week before at home by 5 points and Pitt on the road earlier that season when KF had a "hunch" to keep playing Jake Christensen over Stanzi and we lost by 1 pt.

I know Greene wasn't the FB. I hope you didn't think I was insinuating he was. I was just meaning I thought that was Greene's final year and he played in that game. Yes to the other poster... JC over RS just bothered the heck out of me...

No worries, I wasn't sure. Anyway in the NW game I remember Greene or someone else having a game ending fumble when we were driving to score and win. The play was a blatant targeting which would have been called today and we would have probably won the game. Crazy the game has changed like that in 15 years or so and time goes by to damn fast lol.

If targeting existed when Bob Sanders played he would be ejected almost every game at Iowa.

I didn't think it would be a night game but wow is the big 10 slate rough that week.
Fri - O vs PU
Sat - Mich vs Ill
Iowa vs msu
usc vs Mary
Neb vs IN
Wiscy vs NW
UCLA vs Rutgers

Got to think Mich vs Illini is the biggest game so either 11am on Fox or 6:30pm on NBC.
With 18 teams you would think you could get at least 2 good/great match-ups each week.

We are bringing 6. With the game time being 6:30 looks like lots open at 11. Has anyone tailgated in lot 89 and used the shuttle? Any other areas that Hawk fans are tailgating at?

Were there a lot of Jean cut-off shorts and wife beater tanks being worn in your group?🤪
