Nope. Berger never had control of Kemerer's right foot. On replay, you can see Kemerer's foot continuously slipping out of Berger's grasp. It was very close, but he never controlled it.
Great match. Both guys were incredibly close to TD's on multiple occasions. How Kemdawg had him lifted off the mat with a deep double and didn't finish was amazing. Just a phenomenal counter by Berger to land in a wizard and fight it off. When a guy gets that deep, lifts, and plants, it's a TD 99.99% of the time. Kemdawg similarly fought out of a couple of almost certain TD's for Berger.
For those keeping score at home, Kemerer was a great sport throughout. Berger, on the other hand, planted him with a double after the buzzer in regulation and then jawed at him and went after the Iowa bench after the match. I'm sure all wrestling fans across the nation will take note.![]()
Bull v one of the Great Saint John Bosco kids - Kid never wrestled more than 2 minutes his whole HS life
157 final was more entertainment than Tenn/nebraska football.
Pretty sure Berger was telling Kemerer that he got lucky because of the TD reversal, and probably threw in a "I'll see you again" which is "meh", the usual post match garbage.
But the pointing and charging at the Iowa coach (not Terry because he was by the Nebraska bench talking with their coaches), is not something to be impressed by or excited about as far as "liking his emotions".....
Teague MooreManning and the American coach must be 2 peas in a pod
If they perform that way every time I can't waitI don't think Kem and Berger like each other
They have 3 more years to figure this out![]()
I agree that was a takedown, but by the same rule so was the one that Kem had at the end of regulation. I call it a wash.Great match. Kem had best tournament on the team.
With that said Berger got totally screwed in OT. They've made the rules clear as mud in college. There is NO reaction time. He had both legs and kem hit a hip/butt Hawk fan or not anyone watching that understands the rules that's two all day.
Remember Evans/storley ot two years ago in Minny?
With Kemerer's two, it looked like they gave it to him when Kemerer was on the side and both of Berger's knees were on the mat. It was very brief so I don't think anyone minded that the call was reversed. But again I'm not sure exactly what it was that are them call the TD for Kemerer. He didn't control is as far as I'm concerned, he covered it momentarily but didn't really have a hold on it (i.e. - control). They took 2 away from Kemerer as well, had they not, all this other stuff is mute, and Kemerer has every bit of a gripe as anything Berger would have.
As it was, great match from both guys, some great shots from both and some great scrambles/counters from both. Kemdawg rode him out and that was the difference. Though I have to give him some kudo's for doing what I like our guys to do at all times in those circumstances, and that is shoot and grab a leg. You score, great, if you don't you're not likely going to be in too much trouble. Berger was slippery, that's for sure, but so is The Dawg.
Midlands Champ - Michael Kemerer. Well done kid.

Until Spooner confirms the exact weight with his calibrated body composition eye test, I'm not buying it.................................BTW...I hear that Kemdawg walks around at 155

Berger's was much clearer. He had the ankle, but momentarily. A good way to describe it is a wrestlers back quickly touching the mat and then getting off with no pin called. Kemerer immediately pulled away from Berger's grip. Not sure if that is suppose to be 2 according to the rule or if Berger has to establish control first in order for it to stand.
Either way, match is over and Kemerer gets a hard-fought and confidence-boosting victory. But he knows that's not the last he'll see of Berger.
Any concerns I had about Kemmerer after the ISU match are completely gone. That was the Kem Dawg we expected to see this year. Great match!
I don't care if he prances out like my little pony. Just don't put your damn knee so close to your head, especially against somebody as long as AV.He didn't walk out ready to wrestle.
yep.. taken down early, escape, another take down 4-1, then he got locked up in a cradle and kept getting thrown to his back.. I honestly don't know if it was tech fall or pin (buffering on computer) but it was over in the first periodBull get rolled?
Looks like we got some work to do yet. Keep working Alex.I don't care if he prances out like my little pony. Just don't put your damn knee so close to your head, especially against somebody as long as AV.

Kem showed some real scrap there. That was a dogfightKemerer who was the aggressor for a majority of the match went to OT. They went to SV, then TB and back to SV. At one point, Kemerer was given a TD and it was reviewed and waved off. What wasn't called was Berger grabbing Kem-Dogs headgear with 8 seconds. After another SV and Berger had a TD that was waved off and review and the wave off held. Then a Kemerer ride out, he had 32 seconds of RT and that forced Berger to an optional start. Kem-Dog got a leg and held it like the grim death to win.
Both Brooks and Meyer doing their best Mr. Ed impression tonight. Just what one wants to see out of your seniors.
They're both talking? Standing in a barn door? Help me out Chief. Both Brooks and Meyer doing their best Mr. Ed impression tonight. Just what one wants to see out of your seniors.
Meyer and especially Brooks look good against inferior competition. Neither have high level offense (or defense) against top guysAll the good feelings I had about Meyer after yesterday disappeared today. I should have known better.
