Wasn't there a LB commit who decommitted this summer? If I'm thinking of the right kid it looks like he is a North Dakota commit. Wonder if that relationship is being revisited.

I would guess not. He bolted from a B10 university, and ended up at a Big Sky school.

I believe he is indeed heading to North Dakota. At least the last I saw.

I don't remember exactly what it was but when the shoe fell with him it went hard and fast. I highly doubt we are going after him again. Everything I see says Honus is a hawk. I think if nebby was going to get him (Honus) it was going to be an instant sign. As a Juco you would have to think he sees through some of the pageantry and would pick us as his best shot at the NFL.

100% agree Dean. I think that Leo position should consistently be a guy who was a just a hair too slow to play safety at a D1 that we make into and solid LEO. They are going to have to a sure tackler but if they could cover fairly well our "base" defense would be salty. That position and body type is being used a lot in the NFL and we could sell it.

Honus has to like what he sees regarding the possibility of early playing time at Iowa.

Then look at either Nebraska or UCF defenses(or lack thereof), and I know where I would want to play defense at.

Bulking up faster guys to play LB is a good move for Iowa. Hitchens was a HS running back, Kirksey was light (perhaps less than 200) as a safety out of high school. The ability to run in space is a great attribute to have at LB. I am interested to see Colbert at LB, and Honas can certainly run.

Niemann was 6-3 185

Niemann was offered as a WR by NIU. Iowa liked him as an OLB. Niemann managed to contribute some even as a TR FR ... at least towards the end of the year.

I am very, very excited by what he might run at his Pro-day...I think he will be very fast.
