I'll be honest, haven't watched much of them this year except some of their game against Michigan. Last year is obviously behind us so we're not getting blown out or anything.

So what are we looking at in terms of schemes they run, important players, etc.?

My feeling is that our D should be able to smother their O and Leidner. Don't know what they have for D.

My biggest concern is...Minnesota is a running team and the Hawks have been torched on the ground 2 weeks in a row.

Iowa should still win, though the game may be closer than we want.

Their D has been a little bit hit and miss, but mostly decent. They held the Buckeyes to 28 last night on the road, and got torched by Nebraska for 48 at home. Held TCU to 23. Got shutout at Northwestern 27-0. They squeaked by in their non conference schedule against Colorado State, Kent State and Ohio. Leidner even had back to back 300 yard passing games recently, which is amazing. That means their typical run game is suspect.

There is no reason Iowa should lose to Minnesota at home this year. But they play the games, so we'll see.

Minnesota has been passing the ball. Leidner has 300+ vs Nebraska and Michigan and like 282 vs tOSU. KJ Maye is a go to guy, he burnt Iowa on the jet action last year.

Good points.

MN has been able to put up some really good games, and a couple bad ones. Which MN shows up? Jeckyll, or Hyde? I think Iowa can win either way, but depending on which MN team comes out, it could be a tough game.

Holding TCU to 23 indicates they can hold their own on Pass D vs. spread offenses, but haven't been as good vs. rushing teams or more standard offenses.

I think Iowa should have 51-14 plastered everywhere on campus they have room to do so. Certainly they have all the "typical" motivations just to win a Football game, Conference game, long time rivals, etc., etc., etc. But keeping an undefeated season going, and some payback for The Furry Little Rodents is in order.

This group got lambasted in Minnesota last year. Time to show them it was an anomaly (which any sane person would certainly know anyway). Kirk wouldn't step on their throat even if the game goes that way, this much we know. Sure would be nice to see it on this occasion though...........................

Leidner got rocked at the end of the game and looked in a lot of pain. He is going to come into IC pretty banged up after all the hits he took yesterday

102nd in total offense
24th in total defense
100th in rush yards per attempt (3.89)
Average one rushing TD a game
115th in redzone points per attempt (4.15)
Average FBS rank on all categories (76th)

Iowa - 70% chance winner

Keep your eye on the Goophers though. An up and down year. Got smacked by NW and Nebraska but hung with Michigan and Ohio State. Their most recent games were UM and OSU so I would say they are improving. Going to be another battle.

This is the season we win all the trophy games including Saturday when we recapture Floyd and keep him where he belongs in Iowa City. Hawks by 14 over the gophers.

I heard Nate Sudfeld was healthy and ready to torch Iowa through the air after getting healthy over the by week. Still waiting...

The atmosphere in Iowa city with the wrestling dual and the blackout and the new unis, coupled with the memory of last year's debacle and then trying to recapture our trophy, everything leans the hawks way. Minnesota has to be beat up and gassed after the last two weeks. They fought hard both games and came up short. Another hard road game against another physical football team, I just think this sets up really well for us. I think we win comfortably Saturday and look solid doing it. Our lines played really well in the 2nd half yesterday and another 230+ rushing day. I think we just beat on them a and wear them down. 31-13 hawks.

Old Kirk- "I'm showing them compassion. I thought you'd like that"

New Kirk- "No, not really.....Not this time."
