I was scanning through twitter pages of our basketball commits, recruits, etc, when I came upon something that bothered me a bit

Martin Luther King Jr being attacked as he marched nonviolently for the Chicago Freedom Movement, 1966

Isaiah Moss retweeted it and a short conversation with others took place. I'm sure Moss had no reason to distrust the image or question it. And that kind of "verify, verify" wisdom doesn't come often to the youth, and too rarely to anyone.

The fact is, this image is from 1966 in Marquette Park, Illinois. Mr. King has just been hit in the head by a rock thrown from some cowardly person in a crowd. The persons in the picture are rushing to his aid! One is covering him like a shield, the other is putting hands upon the wound from the rock.

I sent an email to this "Lost in History" person. I hope a correction is made. I will not join twitter myself, but I sure wish there were a way to correct the misinformation caused here.

Some folks were pretty upset with one person in this picture...and he was trying to help. In today's climate, it may be something worth thinking about.

So you want to know who the white guy is?

You should you want to know who both parties were, without political expediency.

No, I don't want to know who the white guy is. I want the picture captioned correctly! "Men rush to aid MLK Jr., after he is hit by rock and falls to one knee."
