Come children and let us participate in this poll. Feel free to argue your points and let's try to keep this about common sense, rather than the typical us vs. them type of topic.

I don't know much about this so if someone could please let me know how this event links in with the school prez I would greatly appreciate it.

Yeah, all this media coverage and they still haven't explained the situation well. I think there were reports of people yelling racist things and someone smearing a feces swastika in a dorm bathroom. The Missouri President didn't do anything about these events right away so panties got in a bunch. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Apparently there was unfairness going on. A group of black students tried to stop his car during HomeComing and he refused to talk to them. Then the poop swastika showed up and all the sudden Missouri has become haven for racism.

The President was a business man, with not ties to the University, so obviously he was one of those with white privilege. Noted by the students who said he should admit his 'white privilege'.

Nevermind that any one of them could possibly be in the same position if they study in school and learn to work their way through business, but who am I to not see them as victimized slaves? How dare me believe they have the same potential that us 'privileged' folks have.

To make a long story short, this is a reverberation of what happened 120 miles to the east in Ferguson. The students claim they have been feeling 'angsty' after the situation, and what's funny is that them acting like morons is probably exactly why. They're in college, they are the minority, simply do to numbers, and for some reason that is everyone elses fault.

All this is, is a bunch of victimized wannabe morons who don't realize how good they actually have it. Maybe the President was a good guy, maybe he wasn't. Same with the now former Chancellor. The fact of the matter is, that this incident was based on sh!t, literally.

Meanwhile, we are expanding our scopes into the Middle East. We are exposing ourselves to more terror threats, and we are regressing from where we have progressed.

That's about it, and no one knows who the poop thing was even done by. For all they know one of the black students did it, just to get a rise out of people. Not to mention that one idiot, shouldn't be sufficient to give rise to a bunch of even bigger idiots.

It's typical BS, it's people who like to cause problems. Victims, weaklings, entitled, ungrateful, ridiculously twisted and warped. That is who you are dealing with.

One has to wonder what message a shit swastika is supposed to send. I could really read that message as pro or con. Like it might be that they wanted the swastika to be really vulgar, gross and a mess to clean up that was intended to support Nazi ideas. Or it could mean that the artist thinks the swastika is a piece of shit and is trying to mock the ideas. Or it could be about buddhism and fertilizing the earth for a rebirth.

"A drunken white student disrupts an African American student group, the Legion of Black Collegians, preparing for homecoming activities and uses a racial slur when they asked him to leave. "Not only did this individual disrupt our rehearsal, but we were also made victims of blatant racism in a space that we should be made to feel safe," the group said. Loftin issues a statement the next day, saying "racism is clearly alive at Mizzou." "What we have done is not enough. Every member of our community must help us change our culture," he said."

Seems like a wash here. A racist white student interrupts a group of racist black students. Imagine a group called the Legion of White Collegians.

Possibly Natural, good thoughts, Do you think the players would have protested if they were 9-0, rather than 4-5? Would their need to fight 'racism' have happened in that case?

I'm very comforted by the fact that now, football players get to decide who should be President of a University.
Obviously they should get paid too, as they shouldn't be enslaved to free college education, food, travel, and becoming superstars on campuses where sex with women comes easier than going to get a coke out of the vending machine. That along with possibly being known throughout the entire country and admired by millions. Not to mention they may leave with degrees, memories most wish they had, and the chance to make millions in the NFL afterwards. How horrible for them.

The student president complained about the university being built by slaves.

The students said that the Thomas Jefferson statue creates a hostile environment for African americans.

I don't understand why the school president was held responsible for any of this.

Sh*t swastika does not strike me overtly racist. Overall I'm confused about the reason for this Missouri thing. To my knowledge it has not been well explained by the media or the protesters.

I can sympathize with black student's general feeling of racism existing on campus, but I don't see enough specific examples for it to have escalated so quickly to demanding the President's resignation. The two guys who were interviewed by Anderson Cooper last night kept saying they "didn't feel safe" on campus. But unless there were specific incidents of white-on-black violence, or threats of violence, then their "feelings" aren't really relevant. It's not the job of the President of the University to make sure students don't have irrational fears.

I saw a video where protesters confronted him, and somebody shouted something about "systematic oppression" on campus. He started to argue by defining what systematic oppression really means, and suddenly the protesters just went berserk, with one shouting "You're saying we're causing the oppression!!!!!" over and over. Uh, no, that's not what he said. But now he was a terrible guy because these people lack communication skills.

On the other hand, he did come across as a jerk. And he's rich now and will be rich tomorrow. So the harm is minimal.

What I don't like is specifically demanding more black staff members and what you said, not feeling safe. Here is the deal, the fact that their numbers are small compared to the rest of the student body is not anyones fault. It is what it is. They even listed the numbers in Missouri, with black people only making up 12% of the population.

Basically they are complaining because of math and poop.

Don't forget Ferguson continuation. There are many students from the STL area.

I don't know, but I would like to think that successful people have a social conscience too. Should I read into your question that you don't think so?

Yes you should, because I guarantee, they at the very least would hold off until after the season.

As someone in his twenties and black, I find this whole situation a bunch of bullshit. Shut the fu*k up and go to class. You want black privilege, go to a HBCU.

Idiot kids, along with a new world where black people blame everything and everyone else for their own inability to evolve in this country. Easier to blame everybody else.

Feces is such a tired medium for idealism, don't you think?

But there is necessarily a line, right? I presume you are just saying this doesn't come close to that line.

I mean, if you received a paper that said, "F, because you are a n*****" from your professor, you'd think that was over the line, right? Or would you still shut up and go to class (or a hbcu?)

Of course there will be a line.

Is drawing a feces swastika crossing that line, you're saying?

Drawing a swastika, tolerable. Urinating a swastika, tolerable. Feces swastika.. you're just going too far.

Someone that may or may not even go to your school yelled a racial slur and it's the president's fault? The whole shit swastika thing may actually be made up.

I don't know, it seems like that might indeed be a job for the top educator. What I've gleaned from the case is that the top guy stayed sequestered in his ivory tower too long and the peasants got tired of waiting for him to deem them worthy. So they made themselves unignorable. I'm so proud of those little tiggers, I hope they all remember to vote.

I was just trying to clarify what the "20s black guy" on HROT thought based on his post. He didn't really say what he felt was a bunch of bullshit, just all of it. So, as I asked, I was presuming there was a line. For some people there really isn't a line, some people will just say shut up and go to class, or shut up and listen to a police officer, or shut up and do what a burglar tells you. I don't know Wahawk, so I asked.

Agreed, i have a bunch of white people much more privileged than me all around me right now. F them. Of course I'm white too, but that's besides the point.

Either way, I like my black friends. I want to hang out with them, without it being awkward.

Well, I think you and others are taking the "President's fault" thing a bit far, they appear to be saying more of a "the buck stops with him", not that it was his "fault". Much like people complaining about Sally Mason and sexual assaults, I don't think anybody thought she was out raping, just that she is the one in charge, the buck stops with her.

Why does everyone believe the poopstika was made up? Don't you think that's an odd thing to fabricate? I mean, it's a pretty odd thing to do with poop in general, but it just feels too specific and weird to be fictional.

No, being a bad crisis manager and letting this escalate for months is the President's fault. This started back in September. He abdicated his leadership responsibility.

The protestors didn't seem like they had any intention of meeting in the middle. Meetings between the sides were unproductive or didn't happen at all. His car was stopped in the middle of a parade. What is he supposed to do, get out and fix it all right there? The protestors never budged and they had an end game that was the only thing they would accept.

That was a month into this things, right? He should have met with the students the next day.

That would be the only issue, timing. However, I think it was known, no words would fix what these kids were feeling. Much of this should been handled by the chancellor. He is the one who had greater knowledge of what was going on. In fact, Wolfe tried to fire the chancellor months ago over grad student health insurance (one of the issues). The chancellor denied knowing anything. Most of the people I talked to said that the chancellor was the problem.

Geezus Hawkt. Most people make at least a SMALL attempt to disguise their bias when they devise a poll. You need some lessons.
