Our resident Supreme Gopher Hater MitchL will probably be popping open some champagne after reading this article. (I know there are many Gopher "haters", myself included, to a much lesser degree of course......Ha!).

I'm also on record as saying the Gophers wrestling demise is greatly exaggerated, so we'll see how that plays out.

Anyway, came across this article/interview with JRob in the Pioneer Press. Doesn't sound to me like a guy ready to step down anytime soon.

I did like this commentary when asked a question about losing out on Mark Hall: "Mark said he wants to be the face of Minnesota wrestling; I don’t see how you can be the face of Minnesota wrestling if you leave the state".

Good little article even if it was Sansevere. Thanks for posting it. I do think the goofs will bounce back but we shall see.

Calling out high school kids? Really? C'mon, J.

Hot damn!!!! Never had my name in a title thread before. Does that put me in some Hall Of Fame or something? Guess I'm a legend now and ready to graduate to "The Mat.Com".

Seriously now regarding the article... J is a realist and was very honest in that piece. I wish he would have addressed the collapse from last season. I wish he would have been asked about diversity within his staff.

Most of it was coachspeak. Things any HC in any sport would say. So I wasn't impressed.

Time will tell regarding those supposedly high level recruits. History says several will not achieve quite the success expected.

He's a proud man and sometimes pride keeps you from realizing when the right time to leave has arrived. I think he's hurting the program by staying and I think the recruiting the next few years will show that.

He comments about how teams fall a bit when you have highly ranked classes. Has Iowa ever fallen so much from one season to another? I've followed the Hawks since the late eighties. Iowa has never been as bad as the Gophers are this year in my memory.

Talking about the recruiting class that finished up at Minny last year:

"It’s tough to recruit behind them because nobody wants to come in and sit the bench."

PSU does not seem to have that problem in recent years.

Yeah he lost some cred with that one. But to the local fans who eat up his crap, it was probably believable.

BTW: This article saves the "GoFundMe" page I was going to start to collect to extend his contract.

"I am desperate trailer trash, I am desperate trailer trash"

Yes, unfortunately, you are! But, do not lose hope. You can take the trash out of the trailer, but you can't take the trailer out of the trash!...................

Jrob cant lose out on Berge or Gable Stevenson after Hall. It cost too much money to get all the elites from other states and watch the Minn HS elites head out. Thats a huge red flag.

And Early, Stroker and Bo Steveson had better end up being NCAA finalist types because J has a lot riding on them unfair to them or not, to help that fanbase forget this season.

I like J but the grumblings have started.

The grumbling a have came and went over the past 9 or so seasons. Little more polarized this season though.

Grappler...just a question. Without an AD in place, is there any pressure from any influential boosters to make a change? Are there even influential boosters?

I am not knowledgable enough of that sorry. My best educated guess is that I don't see any coaching changes taking place under the interim AD. There are a few major donors that I am aware of. One of the biggest(I presume anyway) recently passed away. The ones that I know I can't imagine them rocking the boat to the point a change would take place. The people that complain the most are probably the armchair quarterback kinda people, not necessarily the people of influence.
