MLB Draft

What round typically does it make more sense to stay in college?
Depends on the player's situation.

What year they are: Soph, JR, SR?

Do they like the college experience? What number/signing bonus has he/his family/agent, etc. decided would be enough to get him to sign?

Anything from the 11th round on has a signing bonus ceiling of $125,000 per pick, but if a team is able to sign players in the first 10 rounds under their slot value, they can have some extra to put toward the back end of the draft. It's not uncommon for picks in rounds 11-20 to be in the $150,000-175,000 range, but it depends on how much the front office has to work with....and obviously how much they want a player to join their organization.

It's also not uncommon for players in those same rounds (especially Seniors who have no leverage) to receive much less than the bonus ceiling. Their choice: take it or leave it.

Henry and Kauffmann from the Michigan rotation drafted 74th and 77th. Brewer drafted in the 3rd round so it has to be certain they are all gone.
