Police discovered a mobile meth lab outside of a KFC restaurant Tuesday morning.

According to the Linn County Attorney’s Office, on Tuesday, police discovered 53-year-old Norman D. Ciha and 50-year-old Gina R. Henderson parked behind KFC, 3927 Center Point Road NE. Police said a drug dog alerted on the vehicle the duo were in.

Police said they searched the vehicle and found Ciha and Henderson had been manufacturing meth. A coffee filter containing meth, ammonia nitrate, camping fuel and other items used in the manufacturing of meth were seized from the vehicle, police said.

Ciha and Henderson were arrested. Each face charges of manufacturing meth, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and five counts of possession of precursors.

The unfunny reality of this is the incredibly high number of patients UIHC treats for burning themselves up making meth. Not surprisingly most of them do not have insurance.

In a related report, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health, American Medical Association, American Society of Internal Medicine, Surgeon General's Office, and the American Heart Association issued a joint statement that read, in part, "Given the choice between the two....you're better off taking Meth."
