Moral victories against Utah State, Michigan and Iowa State. Am I missing any? I'm sure this team will earn something for all these moral victories. I don't know how these apologists can be excited about this team. Who have they beaten? You need to beat resume builders to get in the tournament. Maybe that's Washington State, maybe Northwestern. Maybe's aren't going to get it done.

Both football and basketball have become the teams of moral victories. We should hang a few moral victory banners at Carver-Hawkeye to make everyone feel better about this shitty program.

My guess is Utah whom is a matchup nightmare for Iowa actually. It'll kill the NET even more, but we'll be alright I'm sure is what we'll hear.

Yea, we much prefer games like league favorites PU and IU have had in league play getting blown out by PSU and Neb.
Getting blown out is much preferable to losing by 2 pts and 8 points to ranked teams.
I mean, any great Hawkeye fan know Iowa should waltz thru their schedule undefeated, right?

Exactly. I'm disappointed for the players who, with a break here or there, could easily be a one-loss team--or even undefeated. Losing by 2 @ #14 Michigan and in the last three minutes, after leading the entire game, vs. #3 ISU--what's the problem? Iowa was supposed to lose both those games, and by a helluva lot more than they did. Iowa played winning basketball in both those games, but the other team played a tiny bit better . . . and those teams are #14 and #3 in the entire country.

Hey, I'm as tired of Fran as anyone. I'm tired of Iowa never going anywhere in the NCAA tourney. But based on what has happened on the floor so far this season, Iowa looks like a solid NCAA team that might have what it takes to win a game or two or more. Pretty early to heap such vicious criticism on a team that has some depth, some talent, some speed and quickness--a team that, for the most part, plays good defense. Sure, the rebounding is a constant issue, but Iowa went small vs. ISU, a smart move IMHO, so that was to be expected.

Take a breath and give this team a chance. They could turn out to be one of the BIG's surprising successes this season.

I don't think you can argue Iowa could easily be a 1 loss team. The bad luck Michigan loss is countered by good luck win vs NW. Utah St. was a solid loss. ISU yeah, we were winning most of the game, but got beat soundly at the end when it counts. The 3 losses were all well earned.

They are fun to watch at times, but fundamentally flawed like all of Fran's teams and DOA in NCAA tourney play. I support them 100% and the general tone on this board is fans that are suppotive or want to be supportive. The complaints really are Fran Fatigue.

Lots of schools play the Moral Victory card. Here's some blue-bloods that are guilty as well. lol

As you are aware, the Alabama Crimson Tide won the BCS National Championship with a victory in Pasadena, California last week. While no team was able to beat the Crimson Tide on the football field this season, no less than four teams insist they should have won their particular game. The MVNC allows these teams and their claims to victory go head to head so it can be definitively decided which one has the best moral victory of the season.

Purdue NET is 28. Now, Indiana is 63. They're going to fire Woodson though is my guess. Especially if he misses the tournament.
