you can’t always get what you want!
Last week the DHS advised providers that "rates" have been forward to them. These forwarded rates were "floor" rates.Providers could negotiate with the Managed Care Administrators for variances based on individual cases and more complex care cases.
When providers contacted a couple of the Managed Care Administrators, they have been advised that there will be no adjustments made to the rates for several months. The rates sent to providers this past week are based on2015 numbers to date. Also, Administrators are telling providers that if "agreements are not in place" by 2/1/16, their reimbursement will be at 90% of the established rate, this amount has been determined by contract with the State.
So, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.....and it is very apparent how the DHS is going to save money and at whose expense. Tip of the iceberg here guys.
The best way to evaluate the value of a government is how well they look out for those who cannot defend themselves. If you are a handicapped or indigent Iowan, watch out!
