More Proof of the GOP’s hard leap to the Right...

I don’t follow this case but read if they overturn R vs W then the feds leave it up to the states. If that’s the case then those that want to kill babies can move to the Left coasts like Cali. At Easter mass our priest stated that Cali had a proposed bill to allow abortions at very late stages. It’s crazy that people are ok with killing a baby that has already developed.

The abortion issue will never make both sides happy. I even have Catholic relatives that support abortion politicians and even Biden is one of them. They turn their back to God on this issue.
^^^^^^^^

Still doesn't see what's happening. This isn't going to stop with "Just move to an abortion state."

What are you talking about, if this ruling is correct, then the decision on abortion will be left to the individual states. That is the very definition of smaller government. Any honest legal scholar knew Roe v Wade was a ridiculous decision that should never have been decided and it was kept in place due to extreme political pressure, not the legal merits.

If we are being honest from whatever side you come from, this decision will not affect abortion one bit. Someone may have to travel a little farther than before but if they want an abortion they can get one. This entire issue is a matter of states rights and democracy over judicial fiat.
Smaller government would allow these decisions to be made between the woman and their health care providers

Hey everybody! Here's another topic where abby can't see the big picture!

It is amazing to me how many MEN don't consider women their equals.
To be fair. Many women are anti abortion as well, it’s not so cut and dried. It’s about legislating based on the Bible. I would argue that before 15 weeks, most should be ok with abortion, except the zealots who cry sin, then go commit adultery, or kill a few buffets a month, gluttonizimg themselves. Eff the hypocrisy

In 1972 Roe v. Wade was a 7-2 decision in favor of abortion. 5 of the 7 justices who voted “for” Roe were appointees to the SC by Republican presidents.
Today, it is rumored that Roe vs. Wade will be overturned 5-4. The major change in the past 50 years on the Supreme Court that has lead to this change, is the concerted effort by the religious evangelicals in this country to subvert the principle of “rule by law” and move towards rule by political opinion. Here does this end? (Most polls regRding the “legality” of Roe have shown abortion rights are favored by 65-70% of Americans. )
Recognizing it as a state issue and not a federal issue, is hardly a leap to the right, considering it has always been stated as such by the right

It's sickening to me that a 13 year old girl could get impregnated by her father and have to carry the baby to term. It's sickening that women/girls who get abortions. after being raped, get a harsher punishment in some places than the rapist.

This whole White Christian Nationalist minority movement in this country is effing us up in a really bad way.

God planned an entire lifetime for that baby which you are in favor of violently killing. To protect a life from being ended should be a government’s number one priority above all others.
If God planned the entire life of the baby wouldn't he have also planned the lives of all those involved in the abortion therefore indirectly "violently killing" said baby?

God does work in mysterious ways!

Trying to figure what religion the poster is talking about. God doesn’t plan any of our lives. That’s the whole free will thingy

You know that only occurs in half of a percentage of all abortions. Rape is bad. Abortion is bad. Two things can be bad at the same time. You have the logic of a 6th grader.

Oh good, another thread about Roe v. Wade. You Diva.

God gives us free will, if we legislate mortality, there is no free will. This is a terrible decision that the zealots and hypocrites in the Trump part will celebrate, while watching the poor get more poor, eating up resources and polluting. We need population control, but no, God will take care of the earth. Then when Mother Nature is like I’ve got this, here is famine and Covid, we scream in horror.
You dems are missing a big opportunity to take the unwanted newborns and groom them in your own image. The glow from your virtue signaling could be seen as far away as Mars and probably harnessed to run cars.

Pro Life Democrats were actually a thing. At one time, Congress had more than a hundred Pro Life Democratic members.

The advocacy group Democrats for Life still exists, though barely.

Barack Obama signed EO 13535 reinforcing the ban on federally funded abortions.

Joe Biden voted for the Hyde Amendment.

Where have you gone, Joe? ...
Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you ...
Joltin' Joe has left and gone away.

Indeed, gone way left on this and every other issue.

Will “the father” of these babies be charged with financing the child’s upbringing, to assist the mother? Will these states the ban abortion aggressively pursue the fathers of the children and guRantee the father pay his support of the child. Seems o me now that we have decided these children of circumstance be mandated to live life, the individual stTe needs to guarantee the child is adequately funded.

A more accurate assessment is that if this doesn't motivate the democratic base, nothing will.

This could be a major gift, especially so close to the June primaries.
