Moss and Cook

Cook grabbed 8 boards and had only 2 TO’s (plus a nice swat), so he contributed in other ways. A bit of a down game, but he also didn’t force it much, which is a step up from the Minnesota game.

I wish Moss would show up offensively in a big game, but his D wasn’t bad

Iowa is not a team dependent on 1 player to carry the scoring load - we have 8-9 guys who can score in double digits, so it doesn't surprise me when one or two guys have a low scoring night. In the win over Ohio State, Baer and JBo combined for 10. In the ISU win, Wieskamp and Garza combined for 11. We're just really deep and spread the scoring around.

Cook also forced a lot of fouls on Michigan
This is what Beilein said also. Cook drew 6 fouls on his big starters in first several minutes of the game. His younger bigs had difficulty guarding the interior after that. Kudos to T. C.

Moss had a couple of good looks it just wasn't falling. To his credit Mich guards were hanging all over most of the night. It's only one game and he has been much more consistent this year. I'm confident he will bounce back in Bloomington

I liked what TC did.. had some nice blocks and drew fouls that was a big time setter in the theme of the game with Michigan’s bigs in foul trouble the whole game.

Yes he missed a few shots he normally makes, but his aggression singlehandedly got Teske out of the game and opened it up for Kriener and Garza to go to town against Michigan's bench post players. Lot of teams coming up can't match up with Cook and Garza inside. Need to go to them.

Moss/Cook/Jobo were well below average
Still need to squeeze a bit more out of Connor and Dailey
wat? well below average? Jbo played one of his best defensive games of the year yesterday. Cook got the game started drawing fouls, he set the pace of the game in the first couple minutes. imo he distributed the ball very well last night, found the guys that had the hot hands. Moss? maybe below average but well below is a bit of a stretch. he was definitely off with his touch but Mich D seemed to game plan him quite well

Living down here in KC, local radio peeps are excited to see how Self uses Moss

I know it’s only one game in and against Duke but I can’t see Moss playing more than 10 minutes a game. He could end up playing more if there are injuries but all the guys ahead of him are far and away superior than him. I wish him well as I do with any former Hawkeye but I still can’t understand how he thought Kansas was the best option for his career.

Didn’t Moss hurt his hammy or something? I think I remember Self saying he has his work cut out ahead of him to get into the rotation (or something to that effect)

I don’t know what his objective was in transferring. If it was to experience division 1 basketball at its most storied and highest level than good for him. If he transferred there because he thought it would help his pro career he got terrible advice.

Fran is not that bad of a talent evaluator. There is a reason he never rode Moss. And it’s because he was a middling Big 10 player. A fringe starter/rotation caliber player for bubble team.

Kansas played nine players in first half. I’d like to see him get some minutes. Close game but neither playing good.

Moss was slated to start for KU until he pulled his hammy last week. Tough break for him.

He’s got a wrap on his right leg so bet he is injured and won’t see action vs Duke. Not sure he would of seen much floor time anyway.

This exactly. I’ve said my piece on Miss do will just say this and be done but I never understood the fans that were mad that Moss would sit for long stretches and act like he was getting a raw deal. If anything, I think Fran was overly loyal to him by continuing to start him and giving him so much time. He was the weak link in the starting rotation and just showed the lack of playmakers and talent they had at the guard position, especially SH. I will be very surprised if the production at SG this year is not a significant upgrade.
