I don't think so, the potential was always there. Why do you think Bo Ryan had such a hissyfit over his leaving? He always had to tools.
Matter of fact, I thought about this today, if Uthoff were still at Wisconsin, Bo Ryan would still be coaching.

Most improved while at Iowa? I want to say Brad Lohaus. Although he was a Street and Smiths All American coming out of high school, I remember seeing him scrimmage in Clinton, Ia, before his freshman season and he looked like...wait....
