These two freshmen will lead us to the Promised Land.
Tonight, we saw a brief glimpse of their potential on the
road against #24 Maryland. Iowa got 24 points from
Bohannon and 21 points from Cook. The 3 point shots
from the outside by Bohannon were spectacular as he
made 8 of them. Cook was posting up under the bucket
like he owned the territory.

Bottom Line: The present and the future of Hawkeye
basketball is great.

Hard to argue. Peter Jok is a big but replaceable loss. The Baer is a monster off the bench and his full potential has yet to be seen. Ellingson is the best 3 point shooter in the conference. Pemsyl is still sitting at second in FG percentage. Not just young and talented but young, talented and deep.

YES!

Tonight was an impressive effort by both those guys. Going to be fun watching those two for the next 3+ years!

Can't wait until next season when Garza joins the fold. Garza's ability to playing inside/outside should open things up that much more for both Bohannan and Cook. I'm curious though if JoBo will stay at the PG or slide over to the 2 with McCaffrey coming in. I know the 2 is the more natural position for JoBo but he's really grown into an outstanding PG and his leadership and control of the offense in invaluable.

Bohannon and Cook will be the foundation and the
main building blocks as the Hawkeyes go forward.
They have the savvy and grit to give Iowa great
hope in the next 3 years.

What impresses me the most is their leadership. Already asserting so much influence on this team and it's clear that the rest of the team respects them and looks to them as leaders. They will break records but they're going to have an even bigger impact as ambassadors for Iowa BB and their leadership will be their ultimate legacy.

It's so nice having a point guard who can actually shoot, really hard to win without that in today's game.

Future does look good, but Cook won't be here for four years.
I look forward to seeing who will make the most growth in their game between now and next year. It cold be any of em.

The ability to knock down threes is what is giving Cook a chance to shine.

Improved rebounding and defense is what needs to key next season.

It was a breath of fresh air to see Cook rebounding tonight. He's so big and athletic. He could dominate the boards if he put his mind to it.

If he only concentrated on defensive or offensive boards and really went after it, it'd be a big help.

He was a back-to-the-basket player today, but that won't fly at 6'8 in the NBA. He needs to develop a face-up game and likely a 3 point shot to have the NBA even give him a sniff. I believe he'll get there, but I can almost guarantee that he's here for at least two more years.

Did anyone listen to Bohannon's interview on ESPN after the game? JBo basically said the team worked on it all season and tonight it seem the light came on and both JBo and Cook just got comfortable and played well. Have to give credit to Jok too for not trying to hard to score and assisted his team. He had a couple moments of bad TOs but played within himself tonight. Hope the team can build from this game and played hard again against WI on Thursday.

There are those who believe that Cook will play all
of his four years at Iowa. He will be a more polished
product for the NBA when he graduates. He will
be a team leader who will impact his team mates
as they strive for a Big Ten Championship. The
money will still be waiting for him when he graduates.

Calling Reggie Evans to teach him positioning. Imagine Reggie Evans with Cook's athleticism, just in terms of rebounding. Yikes.

I think he'll be a four year guy. Tyler's game has lots of holes and has room to grow into a senior monster.

Plus this freshmen class looks tight and highly committed. Could see this group wanting to ride it out together. Especially since there's so much reason to foresee the next two seasons as bringing increasingly more success.

I am just glad that we won't have to be facing Jordan for the next 3 years every time we have to play Wisconsin. It would be great to see him give us some payback against Wisconsin on Thursday.

Jordan's quick release and deep range remind me of Wisconsin's Brust, the guy that bailed on Fran and took the late Wisconsin offer. Jordan is a better ball handler/passer though. I like Bohannon at PG, but he needs the other guards he plays with to be better defenders to makeup for his lack of height. CW and Bohannon together look pretty good.

At a minimum, three year guy. I would be more surprised to see him go after next year than I would to see him here for a 4th year. The good news is that if he does leave, I think we will have some good pieces around to fill the void.

Man, we are getting way ahead of ourselves. But it feels good to know the potential we have moving forward.

The strength a team possesses when they go from one certified offensive weapon (Jok), to 3 (Bo and Cook) pushes them to a seriously dangerous team.

I'm not certifying the other 2 just yet, but you can see the makings of something great.

Sprinkle in legit support from the rest of the group, which have been there all year and we could have a special finish to the regular season and beyond. Perhaps, a March situation?

Have to imagine they both play together some but JoBo is likely to remain at the 1.

I see CW sliding over to the 3/2 position.

I think so as well UNLESS he develops a decent mid range game. Hell they were talking about Swanigan going late 1st round. I love Cook but he has a lot of work left to do to get to that level IMO.

I could see him leaving after his JR year if everything goes right for him.
