Either MSU or Purdue ends tonight with a 7-5 conference record. The other team will be 8-4.

MSU is red hot; Purdue is at home. Who comes out on top?

Watch at 6 pm CST here: WatchESPN* & Zunoxe1 & LS epn1 & ZXTV 38

*******************************************************************************************

At 7 pm CST
, its (16-8, 4-7) N'w at (14-10, 6-5) Ohio State.

This is a must win for the Buckeyes, agree? Losing and being 14-11, 6-6 at night's end would severely damage their Big Dance hopes, imo!

MSU finds a way...

I'd agree it's a must win for the buckeyes. If they lose they're likely SOL...if they win there's still a good chance they finish 8th. Will we get 8 teams in?

agree with you completely.

Purdue needs to hold serve; we don't want MSU to steal a road win; and we need MSU to slide in the standings so that the chance of meeting them in the B1G semi finals lessens

I would rather see a MD/MSU semi final match up

I'm rooting for sparty...

Call me crazy :)

Becoming a football game.
You don't say.... Turned in about the 10 minute mark. 'Missed call, lot of contact, tackled'. All actual quotes by tirico. All I could think was, who's Reffing this? TV Teddy.... Granted it seemed to favor Teddys favorite team, but it wasn't lopsided. Why does the Big Ten allow him to work games?

It was becoming a nice ending until that last 30secs.
MSU found a way to come back, but so did purdue .

Swanigan is a talent, but he is making some real bonehead plays in this game.

Hammons with eight blocks tonight.

MSU the smarter team with the better coach, but Purdue holds on to win. Would have been quite the blow to let Sparty come back from being 18 down and lose the game. You can't lose two of those games on your home court in one year.

Iowa to win. We are in the drivers seat and let those behind us smash each other up trying to catch us.

Yep this....let's see, we beat PU at home by 12 and by 8 at Mackey and MSU goes to OT and loses and we beat MSU twice already by 17 in East Lansing.

In addition, MSU is in 7th place in the BIG standings.....hmmmmm? Watching this game tonight, boy do I see the diff with the quality of these two teams compared to Iowa. There are solid reasons for Iowa's lead in the conference and very lofty National ranking. Man, have they earned every bit of the higher status. Way to go.

Now Sparty is in a position where they must beat Indiana in East Lansing on Saturday or they are close to being a bubble team, imo. Northwestern is playing their way into the NIT at best.

It's a bit of Schadenfreude, and it's not unlike the fans of every other team, but reading the MSU fans bitch about the refs is a treat. "I love the Spartans but stuff like this is making it hard to watch college basketball." Yeah, when you aren't allowed to hold, slap, and tickle it makes it a lot tougher to win. And nothing beats seeing Coach Lollipop Guild grease it up and down the sideline with his shrimp ass, stomping around like Willow.

nw gives some trouble to better teams. But, in the end, they are still nw. Their inflated non-con record against bad teams isn't going to get them that first NCAA tourney bid.

I don't understand Purdue.

So many times they decide to reverse the ball instead of feeding Hammonds who is probably the best big in college basketball.

Id be furious if I was Painter.

All they need is average gaurd play and they just can't do it. They make it so much harder than necessary.

MSU is about as far away from the bubble as you could possible get
If MSU finishes 8th or lower in the Big 10, you are saying they still get in the NCAA's? I'm thinking they are on the bubble if they finish 8th, which, if they lose to Indiana they could be at the end of Saturday.

Purdue had some REALLY bad shots in the second half, just like they did at home against Iowa and let us erase a large deficit for the win. When the stress level goes up they force shots and hurt themselves rather than working for a better shot.

Swanigan in particular, god he took some bad shots last night.

They have the best out of conference resume out there though.

They would have to completely fall apart to be on the bubble.

16 TOs... you feed the post when the guy is fronted and you end up with a lot of Turnovers. Bigs don't have great hands. Rest of team just sits around. You score 2pts at a time, other teams are making 3's. I don't think having a scoring post is all you need on offense....A team like Iowa with lots of 3pt shooting, stretch 4 like Uthoff, and a defensive big like Woody, and 3pt shooting big like Uhl is tougher.

If Painter was a good coach he would be furious also.....

Making a lot of logic here Logic. Boy did I did a lot of this ^^^^ last night. My goodness did PU turn the ball over this way and walked away with too many empty possessions in the second half. Cannot do this against a team like MSU. Luckily they held on to win the game. And then making 2pts when teams like Iowa are knocking down 3's and Iowa is getting D stops at the other end. Just does not add up enough in my calculations.....TO's and 2 pts when they can get a shot off.

Like I said earlier...clearly a difference in the quality of play between these two teams and the way Iowa plays on both ends of the court. Now I hope both of these teams just beat up on the rest of the teams they play or maybe someone will do they beating back....have at it.
