I know it isn't wrestling, but it still is pretty cool to see a MSU vs. Iowa matchup decide the B1G Champs and, quite possibly, the National Champs. Good Luck gentlemen

Good luck to you too MSU...

Just wow. Can the Minkel farewell tour go any faster? I really hope they give Pariano a shot. It would be interesting to see what he could do in that situation.

They've already named the successor who has been Minkel's long time assistant. Expect more of the same.

It is really, really, really bad. And it goes all the way up. The only thing the Athletic Department seems to care about is graduation rate and no negative(except losing) exposure in regards to the Wrestling team. I have made several attempts to talk with the Department and they basically ignored me. Many attempts have been made by people of much more prestige in regards to the program and they have been ignored as well.......

Sorry to hear that MSU158. Sad to see a once very respectable team to fall this far. Surprised they cannot pull in at least a few top guys by giving them full rides. Hiring a descent coach is a necessity as well though.

Good luck this weekend in Indy. Hope both teams play well.

O M G.

Is the AD treating the team like a club sport?

Refreshing to see Iowa and MSU in the finals instead of OSU or Michigan. Typically I would root for my division conference champ, but Ferentz is a class act who coached a friend of mine briefly in Pittsburgh and does things the RIGHT way...so I say:
GO HAWKEYES!!!

skunked again...embarrassing

133: Corey Keener (CMU) tech. fall Patrick Blommel, 21-6

165: Jordan Atienza (CMU) dec. Travis Curley, 8-2
174: Mike Ottinger (CMU) dec. Shane Shadaia, 7-1
184: Austin Severn (CMU) dec. Schwan Shadaia, 8-2
197: Jackson Lewis (CMU) major dec. Jacob Cooper, 13-5
HWT: Newton Smerchek (CMU) dec. Dimitrus Renfroe, 2-0

The NWCA needs to step in and do something. I don't know what they can or are willing to do with another coach, but they have resources to demand some accountability. That program is going to get cut if action is taken now.

I wonder if other b10 coaches complained and made it known that they don't want to wrestle MSU, if that would change things. I get sick to my stomach thinking about how much money is being wasted on this program. Literally, money being thrown away.

The silver lining in all of this is it's happening at Michigan State, and not Iowa.........................:D

I will go against the grain here and say neither asking not to wrestle MSU or it not happening at Iowa is a silver lining is the wrong thing to be thinking. The wrestling community should be pushing to out the AD's that do not help the wrestling programs and eventually have/want to cut them for other sports. The more our sport fades or is cut at other Universities the more it hurts our beloved sport in general. Gable just went to Fresno to help their program that will be reinstated, do we want that to happen at MSU in 5 years. When the Big 10 starts cutting programs we are in real trouble!

I am not the one to lead a charge on how to move forward and make progress I just think if wrestling starts to lose programs like MSU then we are in real danger.

For all that is bad at MSU, they aren't going anywhere anytime soon. For a fully funded B1G squad, they are in line with the cost and Title IX requirements the Athletic Department expects from them. Simply put, don't bug us for money, don't expect any upgrades and keep your kids graduating and out of trouble. They have enough money coming in from Football and Basketball that they don't have to worry about cost issues relative to Title IX. The MSU results may kill wrestling fans and especially wrestling alumns, but we are such a small percentage that they would barely need to put on headphones to ignore us and NO ONE else would care enough to complain LOUD enough to make a difference.............
