Mulvey not going to Europe?

If he realizes he's not that good and may never be a starter anywhere, then why switch schools if he likes where he's at. And Fran gets to keep him around just in case everyone is injured.
With his height, a good practice squad player. I like his enthusiasim.

Strange if Mulvey is opting out of the trip, unless there is a family emergency, which should always take precedence. Seems more and more likely he won't be on the team next year, if he stays on the team this year. Maybe he can join Nimmers.

His brother is getting married and he is a groomsman.
That is a reasonable reason, but really poor planning by the the brother. Since I haven't heard anything positive about Mulvey and he didn't have a tape like about every other player, I assumed the worst, which maybe I should not have done. He has athleticism, but I am waiting to see any competitive fire. We haven't had much opportunity.

Cmon. How is it poor planning by his brother when the date was set almost TWO years ago? As for him and the MRS. there are things in life way more important then Iowa athletics. I agree that its a rough decision for Riley, because he REALLY needs this time to carve out a place with this team, but he's made his choice, and if it effects his playing time this season, then thats on him.

Two years in advance is pretty unusual nowadays. Bottom line is that Mulvey seems very unlikely to be in the rotation or to be on the team next year.

He's not going anywhere, even if he plays the same amount of minutes this year as he has the last 2 years, he will come away from his Iowa experience with a 4 year expense free degree. Was your college education free of life time debt? That might have been the goal all along....

No disrespect for the posters above but I really miss what karnack would have to say about this.
RSJR 6'11 possibly 7'2" Mulvey wil have an impact.

Once the racist George Raveling left UIowa 7'2" RSSR Brad Lohaise dominated. If you go by rankings, Lohiose was a 5*, Mulvey was a 4*.

Greg Stoke came from Ohio and was passed up by Cincinnatti U.

That's so good it made me do a double take.

Fran seems to be less inclined to send players on their way ("to Crean"), but if Mulvey is only a bench warmer and cheerleader again this year, I would be very surprised if he is back for his final year of eligibility. The coaches might help him find a place on a directional school's roster, where he can play. I hope he surprises and finally shows something this year, but is there any reason to expect that?

Yes he’s going to be a bench warmer (and that’s ok) because Fran recruited two center transfers and an incoming center. If Fran planned to use Mulvey, he wouldn’t have recruited all of them.

yeah, sure. Fran put players over what was best for the team.
Not to distant past the same player was seeing more time than Keegan in his freshman year and the following year Kris even though it was pretty clear the Murray’s brought more to the court, game in and game out.

While I think he got more minutes that he should have, Connor also filled a lot of holes and did a lot of things well at Iowa. Hope you’re not someone who thinks he shouldn’t have played at all. If nothing else, his assist to turnover margin argues otherwise.
I'm not someone who thought he shouldn't have played at all but those holes were 100 pct on Fran and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they were intentional. Either way, I'm ready for the post CM era. Team needs more athleticism in general

Oh for heavens sake, Fran drove off Nunge, Pemsyl, Frederick, Moss?
