Murray...

People are who they are. We’ve all probably made some uninformed, short sighted posts/comments in our lives. Sometimes it’s good to go back and have a laugh at how wrong we were. (Although thankfully I did not disparage the signing of those two).
No arguments with any of this from me. Looking even at this thread, I’m just baffled at how some fans rip into Fran for not giving Kris M or Anthony or others playing time when they have no way of knowing how developed they currently are.

Wow! This was fun to go through. Thanks for posting it. I’m new to boards, although I’m pretty old. Maybe the oldest person here. :) But I have to say, I’m somewhat disappointed with how some people make uniformed comments on this board! How judgmental they are. How unappreciative some fans are of the kids who have made us a legitimate top ten team this year. Those 9 pages just confirmed much of what I believed about “Some” of our fans. Having said that, there are also great posters on this board and I thoroughly enjoy reading their comments.
Keep in mind the Murray Twins didn't come straight to Iowa, and they got bigger and better, so kudos to all involved in that decision, as I think their Family would agree it was a difference maker on many levels.

You could say that Fran got lucky and he took a chance, and while you can also say he has an eye for talent, most years recruiting like that will set you back in the Big Ten, and I don't think that's debatable. So I don't think it's as cut and dry as people make it out to be and Fran's some kind of soothsayer. He got lucky, and it's good to be lucky, especially in this case, cause these Murray kids can play, and I can't believe Kris doesn't have most of the intangibles Keegan does. I'd be stunned to see otherwise.

I think the Murray Family is going to be on one hell of a sweet ride for the next several years.

from the beginning, keegan has been able to get his hands on balls that most cant. of course, this really shows up in his defense and rebounding. is this due to his anticipation?? quickness?? wingspan??

Bottom line with Keegan’s game is this:
The kid is flat out always in the right place. Back cuts, steals, blocks, rebounds. It’s not simply athleticism or luck. His understanding of spacing and position is beyond his years. THAT is why he excels IMO.

What plays? He gets nothing ran for him on the offensive end of the floor. Just asking from a coaching perspective. If you are talking driving where the spacing isn't great. I am just trying to remember the plays you are referring to?
like I said, its a minor quibble and that's what I am talking about, maybe seeing that things are stagnant and trying to do things outside of the flow. It's not a big deal and something he'll learn from.

Keegan looks like the most complete player the Hawks have had in years, despite the fact that we had the National Player of the Year last season.

You can have Murray, I’ll take that big white dude that’s proving he should’ve won 2x National Player of the Year last year.

After watching this year’s roster. Holy crap we are soft this year!

Garza was our only muscle/beefcake. Dude covered up lots of deficiencies.

Shades of Bruce "Sky" King, one of my favorite players and a heckuva nice guy. I'll never forget that night in 12/76 listening to the radio and Jim Zabel when King poured in 42 against Pitt out in New Mexico. Unstoppable! R.I.P. Bruce.
