Guys, help me out. I am in charge of doing music for a local college football team. (not Iowa - lol).

So, when is canned music played at football games? Have never payed attention really. Just before the game, timeouts, and between quarters?

Then do something before big 3rd down on D?

Help a guy out, some ideas would be helpful. Maybe how you would do it for the Hawkeyes!

Thanks

If you don't know when to play the music, how did you get the job?

It seems like that would be covered in the interview.

derp. not even interviewed. just helping out to improve the atmosphere. just asking for some advice. I know the basics. Teach me to seek this board for help. Not being paid either.

I would bet there is info out there on this. Probably even a pdf script of some sort just by doing a Google search.

If nothing else, go online to FB team websites and find someone at Iowa or a college program close by you (probably better luck at smaller market teams or mid majors) that handles the PA or game mgmt. Should be able to tell from their title and job description. If nothing else, they can point you to the right person.

Then ask all of your questions. (Have then ready in advance).

I am betting you will find someone even willing to meet with you at their facility and show you what they do. Many geeks like that are proud to show it off.

It might take a lot of phone time but you should be able to get what you desire with some persistence.

I went to several HS games last fall. I admit it had been several years ago that I last went (and that was another school). Anyway, every timeout or such, canned music was played. I suppose some people like this, but not me. I don't remember that at the other school, which was much larger. Oh, the cheerleaders did their part and the HS band did play some, but the canned music seemed to overshadow them. Forget about discussing the last play or the coach's strategy. Of course, the Iowa fans would say you don't want to be talking you want to be standing up cheering( or maybe booing) all the time.

So long as it isn't so loud that people can't talk to each other during stopped time. That is horrible. So if speakers aren't set up in a good way, could be a bad fan experience
