Lots of great Hawks

Don Nelson. Wow! Lucky.

I'm jealous. I was just too young back then, although I certainly remember watching a lot of those guys from that era. I remember Ed Horton had a funny way of shooting free throws. Lol.

You ain't seen nothing until you saw
One guy I really enjoyed watching and no one has mentioned clay Hargrave he tried to own every damn rebound that came off those boards

So true...Hargrave was great on a mediocre team.

I0 favs that won't make all time Hawkeye lists

Melsahn - lucky he followed Fran
Gabe
Clemmons
Gamble - very under appreciated
Jarryd Cole
Thunder Doug
Val Barnes
Chauncey Leslie
Jim Bartels
Bill Jones

Odd. Your list would most likely be my honorable mention list.

favorites, not necessarily best, that I remember...

Greg Stokes (half of the twin towers)
Gerry Wright (sir jam-a-lot)
Les Jepsen (Bobells, ND)
Russ Millard (sealing the deal against George Washington in 96)
Val Barnes (10 for 10 from field once)
Duez Henderson (buddy of mine couldn't stand him, I cheered for him to spite him)
Jeff Moe (rolled down socks)
Andre Woodridge (someone will get this)
Greg Brunner (all 6'11 1/2" of him)
Ryan Bowen (hardest working player ever)
Luke Recker (daggers in the B1G tourney)
Reggie Evans (that's prime time!)

He was maybe 6'5? Great player. And I didn't even get my idea from you:)
Clay was listed at 6'4" and probably wasn't that tall. He led the B1G in rebounding one season, and often wouldn't even line up for inside rebounding position on free throws.

While a great athlete and leaper, which made him a great rebounder, Clay was seriously challenged on the offensive end. Dunks and lay-ups only.

steve carfino

I think I saw him dunk during a Hawkeye game MAYBE twice his entire career. After our senior season in high school our team played in a charity game at our high school against him, Steve Waite, Mark Gannon and a few other recently graduated players. Granted, it was a no defense pick-up style game but Carfino was a dunking MACHINE (360s, tomahawks, etc....). Too bad we didn't get more of that when he played.
