My apologies, it is the Women's team ranked #4!!!

I just saw a headline on the sports the other night and I thought they were talking men's BBall. I should know better and I think the women deserve it and #20 or so for the men is about right.

Let the piling on begin.
Where is the men's team ranked #20?

You honestly thought that we would be ranked the #4 team in the nation preseason? Really? 😂

You also threw in an unsupported crack about Fran’s teams not meeting somebody’s expectations.

I dont think it is unsupported to look at many of Fran's teams that were playing well into the 2nd half of the Big 10 schedule only to lose most of their remaining games and to look at their Big Tourney record as being very underwhelming

I guess if your crack is supported, then my crack attack is unsupported. You win.

Can you back this up with data?
😉

iirc those teams weren't ranked high early in the year my man. Peaked midseason then sputtered down the stretch.

2020-2021 was the highest preseason ranking they had since the early 2000's. Started the year #6 in the coaches and finished #13, that's really not that bad.

If the article I read was right, that was the first time they were ranked preseason since 2005. So the assertion Iowa being ranked high early in the year (which is what your original thread said) isn't really based on anything.

huh?

Iowa has the 2nd best B1G record over the last 3 seasons. that's pretty impressive, if you ask me...or most anyone.

what follows includes B1G Tournament games.

How about 10 years of us fans on message boards calling out Fran for his early tourney exits and the slides his teams take in Feb and March. I have read those messages for years.

He had some high flying teams with Marble Jr and those players way up in the standings just fall apart with no answer from Fran per the many forum fans

See my reply after your post and tell me you were not one of those forum fans pissed off at the early tourney exits each year and teams that crashed late in the year.

Garza and Keegan really helped a lot the last 3 years as very steady great players to build a team around.

I hope they do even better this year but facts are facts

How about looking at the actual facts/data? The actual records for McC's teams have been pretty good on average for the 2nd half of the B1G season. Your perception is what is screwed up.

The B1G and NCAA tournaments have been the stumbling points for the most part. But up to that, Iowa has done well. And they won the B1G tournament last year so they appear to be heading in the right direction.

You're moving the goalposts.

Your original thread where you confused the women's team with the men's team,

"Fran's higher ranked teams at the beginning of the year seem to sputter."

There has been 1 team highly ranked at the beginning of the year in Fran's tenure and they finished at #13.

So let's ignore that and change it to, "whenever Iowa gets highly ranked during the season they sputter."

Sure, that has happened and their NCAA Tourney results have been disappointing. However, this is ignoring the fact that you only get that highly ranked by winning. If you don't have a period of time where you win, you don't get highly ranked to even have the chance to sputter.

So in your weird world, you would prefer Iowa to lose, so they aren't highly ranked, so they don't have the opportunity to sputter, yet manage to win and lose just enough to gradually move themselves up the rankings to never have any expectations yet finish the season top 5.

What the **** are you talking about. Basketball season is an up and down ride, just roll with it.

Nebraska has averaged three B1G wins a year for the past three years.

It‘s hard to wrap your mind around that level of suck. It has to be one of the worst ROI in college sports. They have spent, and continue to spend countless millions to try to get to at least respectable and haven’t come anywhere close. Sure, it's not a basketball school, it’s a women’s volleyball school but still…it doesn’t even seem possible.

I almost feel bad for their fans…

….almost.

At least Fran works his butt off on the recruiting trail to get talent. If he had cash to spend then he would land a lot of top talent.
