My jackass neighbors are cutting down some old growth oak trees....

Idaho doesn't have Oaks? That place should NOT be trusted.

The true crime would be if it all just goes in a chipper. If the wood is good, hard to imagine what a large tree might yield and its value.

You've never been anywhere in Florida except beaches and theme parks, huh?
Lighten up, Francis. It's a joke.

But no, not really. My buddy lives in Cape Coral near the coast, so it's about 18 inches above being part of the Gulf of Mexico. My uncle lives on a golf course in Naples, but you can see alligators from his patio, so I also consider that a swamp.

Where I live, they build the roads AROUND the oaks so they aren't torn down. They are a beautiful tree.

No one is building a road. These trees are in the neighbor's yard. The salesman for the tree company probably convinced him that the "big scary trees" are hurricane hazards.

Never mind that the granddaddy tree has lived through countless hurricanes.
