Energizer Bunny out in Kansas still running the program. I'm not sure he'll go the whole 5, but he is remarkable for being where he's at at that age. Hope they have some more success and he stays in good health.
He had been fighting cancer, I believe, so this sounds like good news for the Snyder household and KSU football. Wish him all the best. He's a legend in Manhattan.Grandpa Bill is a class act. Doubt he finishes out the full five, but looks good to recruits.
He is Kansas State Football. Before him they were just like Kansas, after he left they were just like Kansas. Very underrated coach, makes you wonder what he could have done with more resources at his disposal. Kansas State is even harder to recruit to than Iowa.
Where?I really would have liked to have seen him take over for Hayden in early '90s when it became evident that Hayden was over the hill. not to impugn our own legendary coach, but gee, his last 8 years were not that great. I have always wished that history had been different and that either he or Barry Alvarez had taken over in the ealry '90s. think where we would be today.
Why is this eerily familiar with a marked success difference? He is holding them hostage so he either dies as coach or they hire his son.
Take over = go after or follow when the one before you leavesWhere?
He looked 78 in 1978He looks every bit of his 78 years outwardly. Must have a great desire to support that institution to keep fueling him.
It's hard to see him going more than a couple of seasons.
The K St fans I know aren’t too happy about this.

Nothing like having a coach that can reminisce about WWII.
I see similarities to the KF/Barta situation here. Did they NEED to extend his contract to keep him there? Probably not. Was it the right thing to do based on the service he provided the school and the state? Probably.
Just going to leave this tweet here.
The top college football coach over the last 40 years. He is a miracle worker. He is Kansas State Football. Before him they were just like Kansas, after he left they were just like Kansas. When I think of Kansas State football ,I think of Snyder ,and that dumb looking Wildcat mascot with human arms and hands.
It helps in recruiting where kids are probably being told "He's 78 and not going to be there in two years"I see similarities to the KF/Barta situation here. Screw them. Who gave them a friggin' program? I hate when fans turn around and bite the hand that not only feeds them, but made food possible in the first place. KSU was 23-85-3 in the ten seasons that proceeded Snyder. Snyder was 77-39-1 in his first ten seasons. Talk about a turnaround. Tell the KSU fans you know that I said to kindly STFU. lol
We have our own that has overstayed his welcomeThe K St fans I know aren’t too happy about this.

I don't totally buy into this. There was a time (not sure if it's still the case) where KSU was able to recruit a bunch of JUCOs that would never be able to play at Iowa.Kansas State is even harder to recruit to than Iowa.
Beating the likes of South Dakota and the University of Texas San Antonio cannot be easy at any age. Why is Snyder given a pass and Kirk not?
You don’t research much do you? They play the likes of Mississippi st vandy stanford mizzou zona wash st colorado. I'm a Snyder fan Harb, so don't take this the wrong way. I really don't make a direct correlation to him being more successful then KF, simply because they don't play the same schedule. Bills done extremely well given his situation, but I'm not sure he would have one upped Kirk if he would have been coaching in the BIG. Just a much stronger conference top to bottom annually then the 12, IMHO of course. Also for those that gripe about Iowa's non con schedule, you'd really not be happy with who KSU plays most seasons. Still, he's been the right guy at KSU to make them relevant, no doubt, and thats saying something. If I give a nod to anyone of coach Fry's tree as having raised above what KF has done, it would be Alvarez, for obvious reasons. He has had alot more success in some ways that KF. Is it his offensive acumen? I'm impressed with his win total and the remote area he is able to attract guys to. Legend is a great word for him.
Maybe, but we certainly have posters, who have long overstayed theirs.....We have our own that has overstayed his welcome
