John Cazale was in only 5 feature films in his career; all 5 nominated for Best Picture. The Conversation and Dog Day Afternoon didn't win, but The Godfather, The Godfather Part II, and The Deer Hunter all won.

Even dying young, it's a shame he didn't get more movie roles in. Cazale was on the stage for over a decade before he was cast in The Godfather then he did all 5 movies in 7 years. He would be remembered as one of the greatest actors ever with a longer career (still should be). I can see him killing it as Vincent Vega - no offense to Travolta.
